Spy Shots: Genesis EQ900 Spotted Wearing No Camouflage
We are still a few weeks away from the official release of the Genesis EQ900.
But the new luxury sedan, which will be the first under Hyundai’s new Genesis sub-brand, has now been spotted by ForoCoaches user “Sr_Blublu” with no camouflage hiding the design.
The upcoming Genesis EQ900, which will be called the Genesis G90 in overseas markets, was first shown off in sketch form earlier this month.
What we saw then was an exterior design that borrowed obvious influences from the Hyundai Vision G Coupe.
Like all Genesis products, this one comes with the now signature hexagonal grille, LED taillights, chrome accents, and angular window line.
The G90 measures in at 5,205 mm long, 1,915 mm wide, and 1,495 mm high, while the wheelbase is 3,160 mm.
There will also be a long wheelbase model that comes in at 5,495 mm long with a wheelbase of 3,450 mm.
The G90 will be constructed using high strength steel in over 50% of the body, which means that the vehicle will be both lighter and stronger than if traditional steel was used.
There will be 3 engine options available for the G90: a 3.8-liter Lambda V6 GDi, a 3.3-liter Lambda V6 Turbo GDI, and a top of the range 5.0-liter Tau V8 GDi, with each of the engine options being mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a standard HTRAC AWD set-up.
Hyundai created the Genesis sub-brand in order to compete with the likes of Lexus and Infiniti, both of which are sub-brands of Toyota and Nissan, respectively.
The G90 is just the start of many new models to be delivered under the Genesis brand, with the G80 and G70 sedans expected to be the next vehicles rolled out. (Source: Fred)
