Hyundai i20 R5 Rally Car To Debut At Rallye de France
The Hyundai i20 R5 will finally get to see some action when a trio of cars will make their debut at the WRC2 2016 Tour de Corse – Rallye de France.
Kevin Abrring and Seb Marshall will be representing Hyundai Motorsport at the event, while the other two vehicles will be driven by new Hyundai customers.
Kevin Abbring is the ideal choice for the occasion, as he has played a major role in the development of the i20 R5, logging 5,000 km of testing.
He says that he is excited to finally get to drive it in a competitive setting.
The first of the customer entries will be raced by Stephanie Sarrazin and Jacques-Julien Renucci, with the latter already having a win in 2014 in a non-WRC round.
The other customer car will have Fabio Andolfi and Manuel Fenoli at the wheel, running for HMI and ACI Team Italia.
Andolfi has had some real success, and is currently ranked 4th in the standings in the WRC3 Championship.
Both teams will be given a dedicated engineer and specialist technician so that they have vehicles that are competitive throughout the entire race.
Hyundai Motorsport Team Principal believes that this is perhaps the biggest event in the short history of the team, and he is confident that all three of the cars will pass the ultimate test with flying colors, despite a relatively short homologation process.
