Hyundai launches a hot-looking i20 WRC rally car!!
Hyundai has held an automobile media briefing today where it has made two major news announcements.
A brand-new concept vehicle that will be unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show would be the first exciting news, but we are going to focus at the official launch of the 2014 Hyundai WRC rally car first.
Hyundai has officially unveiled the 2014 i20 WRC car and the Hyundai Shell World Rally Team that will compete in next year’s World Rally Championship.
The official launching event has taken place at the home of Hyundai Motor Europe in Offenbach, Germany just a short drive from Hyundai Motorsport’s facility in Alzenau, where final preparations are taking place for the team’s rally debut.
The carmaker’s first racing event in the 2014 season will be the famous Monte Carlo Rally which kicks off in January next year.
Hyundai hasn’t released any of the car’s specs, but we have gotten a few cool photos of the i20 WRC model.
Hyundai told the media that their main objective for the 2014 season for both cars is to finish each rally event, with the goal of accumulating vital knowledge and data in order to strengthen its foundations for subsequent years.
During the event, the South Korean carmaker also announced a complete driver line-up for 2014.
The team’s leading driver will be Thierry Neuville, while the team’s second driver will be Juho Hanninen. They will be joined by either Dani Sordo or Chris Atkinson at several racing events during the season.
During the media briefing today, Hyundai also announced the N performance brand which will spawn a series of high-performance road cars.
