Hyundai Veloster With AWD: Is It Available?
Hyundai Veloster all-wheel-drive (AWD) – is it on sale in 2018 / 2019?
It obvious that cars, SUVs and crossovers with all-wheel-drive systems offer many advantages over the FWD-only vehicles, especially when driving in wet or snowy conditions.
So, there’s no wonders why readers of our blog, who appear to be seriously considering the Hyundai Veloster turbo as their next new car purchase, keep asking us whether the model offers only the FWD option or it is also available with an AWD system.
ANSWER: Unfortunately, the current Hyundai Veloster is only available as a front-wheel-drive vehicle and doesn’t offer all-wheel-drive.
The vehicle offers a choice of two engines, the 1,6L GDI and 1,6L GDI turbo units with 138 and 201 horsepower, respectively.
There are also two transmissions available, the 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual units, as well as loads of premium and safety features that consumers can choose from.
Considering all the goodies you can get in a new Hyundai Veloster it appears like the all-wheel-drive system’s being the only feature that is missing.
But that may change in the future.
More and more vehicles are getting AWD systems and the not too distant future may bring all-wheel-drive systems to lower priced cars, such as Veloster or any other coupe.
Hyundai has just recently unveiled the HTRAC AWD system, but that remains exclusive to the Genesis luxury sedan.
However, that doesn’t mean the system won’t spread over to other Hyundai models including the Veloster redesign in the coming years.
Hyundai has always been looking to offer consumers more options and new technologies, so don’t be surprised if the all wheel drive comes available in the next-generation Hyundai Veloster AWD coupe, which should be released in the USA within a year or two.
