Heavily-Modified Veloster Turbo Completes Hyundai’s 2013 SEMA Lineup
Hyundai and Fox Marketing Cars have teamed up to create a Veloster Turbo that is among the most powerful street cars ever.
The car will be put on display at the upcoming Las Vegas SEMA show in November 5-8.
Fox Marketing took the existing 1.6-liter 4 cylinder direct-injected engine that Hyundai produces and took it to the next level for the engine they created for the SEMA concept.
Included among the components they added were a BorgWarner EFR turbo, an 845 Motorsports turbo upgrade, AEM water/methanol injection system, front mounted intercooler, VP Racing 101-octane performance fuel and an ECU tune from SeoulfulRacing.
The changes made deliver an astonishing 370 horsepower.
The power generated by the engine may have been problematic in high-speed cornering were it not for the addition of a UNIQ Performance strut brace, ImportShark chassis bracing and fully-adjustable ARK Performance coil-over suspension.
The driver is held in place by a Takata Drift III 4-point harness attached to Street Pro LE seats.
A car that goes that fast needs to be able to stop on a dime, which is made possible with the use of WP Pro EX6 6-piston front calipers with carbon fiber ducting and 13.6-inch wavy-cut rotors.
Exterior changes have been made to the Veloster Turbo to bring the look more in line with the aggressive additions under the hood.
A unique color called Sky Aqua Pearl coats the body, with the addition of Hyundai Genesis fog lamps and an ImportShark front lip spoiler also adding to the cool new look.
Changes have also been made to both the front and rear fascia to alter the look even more.
Scott Margason, director, product planning, Hyundai Motor America, said that the idea behind the concept was to create a performance Veloster Turbo that is affordable. He was quick to praise Fox Marketing for the work they did in putting together a souped up version of the current Hyundai engine.
