2019 Hyundai Veloster N Officially Launched In U.S.
The Hyundai N performance brand delivered the i30 N hatchback as their first foray into the European performance car market.
The 2019 Hyundai Veloster N is next to be released, only this time, US drivers will get an opportunity to get behind the wheel, with the model set to go on sale before the end of this year.
For those of you who may not know a lot about Hyundai’s foray into the high-performance auto world, we have put together a Q&A about the new Veloster N.
1. What is the all-new Hyundai Veloster N?
The Veloster N is Hyundai’s first ever high-performance vehicle made available in the US market. The hot hatchback is placed above the standard R-spec and Turbo models, and while it is a performance vehicle, it is also a car that delivers everyday drivability.
2. Launch date & dealership arrival
The US media was on hand at the Thunderhill Raceway in California last week for the unveiling of the 2019 Veloster N. It won’t be long until the general public can get their hands on the new model, with the vehicle expected to be in Hyundai dealerships before the end of 2018.

3. What are the exterior & interior color options?
All told, the US-specs Veloster N comes with 4 different exterior color options, which are Performance Blue, Chalk White, Ultra Black, and Racing Red. As far as the interior goes, the dashboard and seats are black, but also feature several accent colors that complement the exterior colors.
4. Engine options & specs
The Veloster N comes equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with a pair of different power outputs. The base model comes with a 250-horsepower unit that delivers 6,000 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. You can opt for even more power by upgrading to the 275-horsepower unit.
5. Transmission
Hyundai have mated a 6-speed close-ratio transmission, complete with downshift rev-matching capability, to their engine.
6. Brakes
A high-performance vehicle needs some serious stopping power, which the Veloster N gets with gets with 13-inch rotors in front and 11.8-inch rotors in back. There is also the option for larger 13.6-inch rotors in front and 12.4-inch rotors in the rear.
7. Tires & wheels
The base model comes with 225/40 R18 Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires on 18-inch alloy wheels. The top of the range model gets 19-inch alloys with Pirelli P-Zero summer tires (235/35).
8. Fuel economy figures
According to Hyundai Motor America, the Veloster N delivers and estimated fuel economy of 22 city, 28 highway, and 25 combined.

Albert Biermann’s comments about the new Hyundai Veloster N
Biermann serves as the president and head of Performance Development and High-Performance Vehicle Division at Hyundai Motor Group. He recently spoke about how the N model is a step above what we are used to with the already sporty Veloster.
His hope is that driving enthusiasts in the US market will be excited by the capabilities of the Veloster N, a vehicle that delivers a true performance vehicle at a price that most people can afford.
