Supercharged Hyundai Genesis V6

Most automakers love to create a buzz when they enter their vehicles into bi name motor shows, but at the SEMA show, taking place in Las Vegas from Nov. 1st-4th, Hyundai will be looking to create a roar.

Hyundai America Technical Center Inc. -HATCI teamed up with Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc. to produce a prototype of the popular Hyundai Genesis Coupe, named the Hurricane Genesis SC; a model that has been 2 years in the making.

The original model has been enhanced in all areas, from power to braking, exterior and all points in between, with the goal being to show the supercharged capabilities of the Coupe’s V6 engine. This was achieved by supercharging the original engine with a liquid to air intercooler that produced a ground shaking 450 horsepower.

A senior engineer at HATCI said that the upgrades were done to showcase the high-performance qualities of the Genesis Coupe’s engine, with the end goal being an eye to ensuring a similar type of output on all future 2013 Hyundai models.

Magnuson Products played a huge part in the development of the supercharged Hyundai Genesis Coupe, and they were quick to point out that the engine could easily be modified to produce even more power, but that it was not intended strictly as a show model, but rather a demonstration of how Hyundai is working to push the boundaries of this particular car category.

While the supercharged engine may be the detail that grabs the headlines and the spotlight at the SEMA show, but there is much more to admire in the Hurricane and that starts with the interior. The seats are a custom Katzin design, made predominantly of suede and leather, with blue inserts that add a splash of brilliant color.

The high output Harman International Lexicon sound system may very well be the only thing that can compete with the growl of the engine.

The exterior has been given a much sportier look than the Coupe, with Rhys Millen Racing kicking in superior enhancement to the hood, grille, front bumper and rear deck spoiler to name a few. The19-inch wheel and tire assembly was the brainchild of Enkei and Hancook, and the LED lights were designed by FlyRyde, making the Hyundai Hurricane SC a true team effort on all fronts.

The mechanics of the vehicle were all German designed and provide the sort of excellence that one would expect from that country, when it comes to cars.

Visitors to the 2011 SEMA floor show will not just have to read about all the enhancements, as many of the individual parts will also be on display, meaning that the Hurricane is definitely going to create a storm of interest come opening day.
