Quality study
The J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study takes into account problems that owners experience with their vehicles in the previous 12 months.
Those owners need to have had the car for the three years since its relese (2010), with 202 specific issues grouped in 8 vehicle systems.
The results of the car quality study are pulled from industry insights, model rankings of each individual segment, and name plate rankings.
The lower the score a car receives the better, with the dependability determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 cars.
