2015 Sonata Spied Testing – Video
Hyundai is adopting an aggressive strategy with the rollout of the Sonata sedan, with a new version expected next year.
That would mean that the current model would only have been available for 4 years.
There are already spy shots of the new 2015 Sonata circulating, with the new model expected to arrive next year.
The redesigned Sonata has already been well tested in the US, with more detailed tests now being performed at the Nurburgring test track in Germany.
As you probably already know, Hyundai built their new development center beside the famous track, meaning more of their cars will be put through their paces there.
The video below reveals an all-new Hyundai Sonata prototype that is still pretty heavily camouflaged, but the shape of the new grille and some details on the lights are visible.
What is immediately apparent is that Hyundai is aiming for a more mature look as they are using elements seen on the upscale Equus and Genesis sedans, with the latter of those two also getting a redesign for the 2015 model year.
Some premium touches found on the new Sonata include LED elements in the front and rear lights and a chrome-finished dual-tip exhaust.
Soft touch materials will likely be found in the interior, as will a large LCD atop the center stack.
The goal of Hyundai is to retain some of the ground it lost to new versions of the Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry.

The current mid-size sedan platform will remain on the new Sonata 2015, although it will have some significant revisions included.
The engine range of the next-generation Hyundai Sonata could also change, suggest latest rumors.
The current Sonata features a base 2,4L four-cylinder engine and that unit may be replaced by the 1,6L turbocharged engine.
Aside from the slightly higher output, the 1,6L turbo engine would provide the revamped mid-size sedan with lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder, which is also on sale now, will likely be carried over, while a hybrid version would also remain available.
2015 Hyundai Sonata Release Date?
Hyundai could put the 2015 Sonata on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show already in November this year.
If that doesn’t happen, the automaker will have another opportunity to showcase the new model in Chicago (February 2014) or New York (April 2014).
Hyundai plans to release the 2015 Genesis sedan at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show in January next year, but it is highly unlikely that the 2015 Sonata would make its inaugural US premiere at the same event.
Therefore, we expect it to be unveiled either in February or April next year.
