Hyundai Motor America unveils US-specs 2012 Azera near-luxury sedan at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show!
The long-awaited Hyundai Azera (2012 Model Year) is here! The near-luxury sedan, which made its official premiere in L.A. today, has received a complete makeover for the new model year.
The 2012 Hyundai Azera boasts fresh new look, sleek and highly sophisticated interior lay-out, more modern powertrain technology and best-in-class fuel economy.
Power comes from a 3.3L V6 GDI engine that generates 293 horsepower and is mated to Hyundai’s six-speed automatic transmission. The 3.3L V6 produces a best-in-segment specific output of 88.8 horsepower / liter, while having the smallest displacement V6 in the segment. In comparison to its rivals, the Azera’s engine packs 10 more ponnies than Chrysler’s Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine and is also a few horsepower stronger than Ford’s 3.5L V6 unit.
In addition to its superb performance, the 2012 Azera also delivers best-in-class economy figures. Azera’s fuel economy is estimated at 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on highway ( 23 mpg combined ).
The new Hyundai Azera is outfitted with a plethora of luxury features such as HID Xenon headlights with LED accents, navigation system with rearview camera, ventilated front seats, side window sunshades, bluetooth hands-free phone system with voice recognition, panoramic sunroof and cooled glove box among others.
In terms of vehicle safety, the Azera made a significant step forward compared to the previous generation vehicle. Standard on all models are nine airbags ( including knee air-bag) and vehicle stability management -VSM system, which optimally manages electronic stability control -ESC and the motor-driven electric power steering system, called MDPS.
Additionally, the Hyundai Azera 2012 also features a highly-advanced braking package which features 4-wheel disc brakes and an anti-lock braking system (known as ABS) that also includes brake assist system, which provides maximum braking force when a panic stop is detected.
New Azera color palette includes 8 exterior and two interior color choices. Exterior colors include Smoke Gray Metallic, Hyper Silver Metallic, Venetian Red Pearl, Bronze Mist Metallic, Midnight Blue Pearl, Black Onyx Pearl, Porcelain White Pearl and Silver Frost Metallic, while inside consumers can choose from Chestnut Brown, Camel and Graphite Black color options.
