Rhys Millen, who has been given the first opportunity to test drive the Genesis Coupes performance when he performed the precision driving for the Hyundais multi-million Superbowl campaign, is building a race car based on the Genesis Coupe.
A two time Pikes Peak Champion, Rhys Millen will oversee the development of the Genesis Coupe into a drift car. The stock 3.8L Lambda engine, which generates 310hp on the Genesis Coupe will be punched out to 4.1 liters and equipped with turbocharger from Turbonetics and mated to a sequential transmission. The whole package will be generating approximately 550 hp and 520 Nm of torque.
In addition, Genesis Coupes weight will be brought down to 2.400 lbs with the use of wide range of carbon fiber body parts. The vehicle will sit on 18-inch high performance tires from Toyo tire company.
The 550-hp Genesis Coupe will be driven by Millen at this summers Pikes Peak Hill Climb and selected races of the Redline Time Attack series. He will also campaigning the coupe in Formula Drift Professional Drifting Championship during the rest of the year.
