Production-Ready Hyundai ix25 To Go On Sale In October
The hot-looking small SUV concept vehicle, called ix25, that Hyundai unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show last month, is headed for showrooms!
According to latest reports from the automobile sphere, Hyundai will first launch the ix25 SUV in China market.
The production-ready ix25 will debut at the 2014 Chengdu Auto Show in September, while first models are expected to hit the Hyundai dealerships in China by the end of October!
We have also learned that the upcoming small SUV will offer consumers a choice of 1,6L and 2,0L GDI (gasoline direct injection) engines.
The automaker is also expected to offer both, the 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions!
The ix25’s powertrain technology offering is not that surprising! It is actually something we have been expecting for quite some time.
Here’s why…
When it was announced Hyundai has used the same platform for its upcoming ix25 SUV as Kia did on their second-generation Soul crossover vehicle, we knew the engines and transmission would stay the same.
Everyone also expected the ix25 to be an all-wheel-drive vehicle, however, the fact that Kia hasn’t offered the Soul with an AWD system gave us thinking that Hyundai may do the same and keep the ix25 a FWD vehicle.
Could the ix25 be the front-wheel-drive vehicle only? Or, could Kia introduce the Soul AWD in the near future?
Either options are possible! And that remains to be seen!
As does the pricing of the crossover!
Latest rumors suggest Hyundai may price the 2015 ix25 in-between the 140,000 to 180,000 yuan!
We are not sure about the final pricing and Hyundai hasn’t officially confirmed anything on the pricing just yet.
So we will have to wait until October when the car gets released to the market.
We will keep you updated, so stay tuned!
