Hyundai Motor Company continues with their fluidic sculpture theme and officially unveiled its HND-9 Sports Coupe concept at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show.
Created at Hyundai’s Namyang Design Studio in Namyang, Korea, the HND-9 Sports Coupe is the 9th model to come from the Research and Design center.
This sports coupe concept embodies the flowing and dynamic form execution seen previously in the Sonatas, Elantras, and Tucsons, but to a more powerful extent.
Included in the design pattern are the four basic aspects of: Fluid, Dynamic, Motion made easy, and the Best driving imaginable.

It has an overall length 15.4 feet, width of 6.2 feet and height of 4.4 feet. The wheelbase measures 9.4 feet.
The sports coupe is equipped with a 3.3-liter turbo charged GDi engine and 8-speed auto transmission. This Hyundai models boasts of a luxury ride even with 362 horsepower.
Based on a “modern reinterpretation of an elegant, classic premium sports coupe,” the HND-9 is Hyundai’s preview of the next-generation Genesis coupe.
Premium details include twenty-two inch alloy and carbon material wheels, sculptured rear combination lamps, dual tailpipes placed on both sides, and butterfly doors.
The dynamic proportions emphasize a long hood, a stretched wheelbase, and a wide hexagonal-shaped radiator grille. The fluidic sculpturing is seen in the profile’s clean lines and curved triangular shapes.
The modern and futuristic design is not limited to the exterior, but flows into the interior too.
Hyundai states that three key concepts were embedded into the interior design: spiral sculpture, elegance and high-tech interface.
Modeled after a jet cockpit and incorporating the spiral sculpture philosophy, the interior showcases improved functionality, as well as appealing elegance.
The dash board is designed with the demanding driver in mind, using a high-tech interface to achieve the goal.
Even the steering wheel reflects a jet steering wheel’s inspiration, and follows the distinctive spiral theme. The sporty elegant seats are clothed in a luxurious and seemingly color changing mesh. The aviation influences bring to mind the speed at which a jet flies.
The HND-9 Sports Coupe is an excellent example of the Hyundai’s motto of “New Thinking, New Possibilities.”
