New York auto show: Hyundai releases Nuvis (HCD-11) teaser image
Hyundai has released a teaser image of its secret concept car named Nuvis. The crossover concept with a HCD-11 project name, has been penned at Hyundais California Design center in Irvine and is already the 11th concept vehicle designed by the studio.
The HCD-11 concept follows the plain and ugly (sorry Hyundai) HCD-10 Helion, which made its premiere at the 2006 Los Angeles auto show and was designed by Joel Piaskowski, who left Hyundai Motors America and joined Mercedes Benz a few months ago.
At this point it is not known whether this is a design exercise only or a concept that previews some near-future production vehicle, but it certainly showcases the brands cutting-edge capabilities and hints at a possible design direction for a future-generation Hyundai vehicles.
A gull-winged concept has been first spotted yesterday by one of the Autoblog readers who has managed to take some less than perfect spy shots. What we have seen yesterday and we do not today are a pair of huge gull-wing doors replacing the regular front-rear door set-up.
A closer inspection also reveals a small Blue Drive logo positioned right behind the front wheel, indicating the latest Hyundai concept might be eco-friendly and will likely be powered by advanced, in-house developed, electric-hybrid drive system.
Hyundai plans to officially unveil its latest concept at the upcoming New York International Auto Show next week. If not earlier, then we will get the official Hyundai Nuvis (HCD-11) press release, images and more detailed information at that time.
UPDATE: Roadandtrack has published some additional images of the Hyundai NUVIs concept. check them out at the link above!
