Is 2011 Hyundai Sonata AWD available for sale?
Car enthusiasts and current Hyundai owners around the world would love to see a Hyundai Sonata AWD (all-wheel-drive) in the automaker’s vehicle line-up. There are many people asking us whether Hyundai plans to release an AWD Sonata sedan or not.
Hyundai-blog.com answer: As far as we know, the fastest growing carmaker in the US-market has no intentions to build an AWD Sonata sedan, unfortunately. If Hyundai built an all-wheel-drive Sonata, the vehicle would probably hurt the sales of Santa Fe SUV and Tucson crossover, which are both available in all-wheel-drive configuration. Hyundai has just recently launched a 2011 Tucson crossover and Santa Fe SUV received a mid-cycle facelift last year.
However, the 2011 Sonata range is going to expand soon. The 2011 Sonata hybrid, which is set to go on sale in the first quarter of next year, will be joined by a high-performance Sonata turbo model. The turbo-engine propelled Sonata sedan will feature Hyundai’s brand-new 2.0L turbo engine with 274 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque.
So, those waiting for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata AWD to appear in the showrooms should seriously consider buying one of the afore-mentioned Hyundai SUVs or pick one of the upcoming Sonata models.
