Hyundai Mingtu Revealed Ahead Of Its Shanghai Motor Show Debut
UPDATE: The all-new Hyundai Mingtu, a China-market exclusive model, has been revealed in a photographed billboard.
New Hyundai sedan that has been designed for the Chinese market has been partially revealed in recently leaked spy shots.
The production ready model is expected to be fully unveiled at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show, which kicks off later this month.
There’s not much of an information about the all-new Hyundai Mingtu at this point.
What we do know is that the model will fit between the Hyundai Elantra Langdong and the Hyundai Sonata, with an expected price of between 1400.000 and 180.000 yuan.
The vehicle will be produced in China and will be a Beijing-Hyundai joint venture.
According to the latest news, there will be a choice of either a 1.8L or 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, both of which will be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The vehicle is expected to challenge the likes of the Volkswagen Sagitar and the Citroen C4L, both of which are smallish sedans with a luxury styling.
The small luxury car segment is one of the fastest growing segments in China, with more cars expected to be released in that category in the coming months.
The reason automakers like the segment is because they can build on existing platforms to help keep production costs down.
