Hyundai HCD-2 Concept Is A Classy 2-Door Sports Coupe
Hyundai HCD-1 concept was nice, but the HCD-2 sports car is even more attractive prototype.
One week has passed since I introduced the Hyundai HCD-1 concept to you and now its time to review the second concept car. The HCD-1 was the first concept in a series of more than 20 prototypes that we will take a look at each week during the next couple of months. A classic neo-roadster, the HCD-1, was a predecessor of the Hyundai HCD-2 concept.
The HCD-2 made its official debut only a year after HCD-1 and it has foretold the first generation Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon. Its a very special concept to me, because this is the first concept car I have actually seen in-person. I was 15 years old, when my family attended the auto show and there it was, the blue sports car from Hyundai.
Not expecting to see a concept car, I was blown away when I found out what it was (a Hyundai). Of course I took a few shots of it and I plan to pop them up here once a friend of mine gets them scanned.
As you’ll see in the video, the HCD-2 was another street-ready concept car. It was equipped with everything that production car needs in order to go out on the road. The HCD-2 had a 2,0L, first generation, Beta engine with 160 horsepower and a five-speed manual transmission.
Its attractive exterior features muscular styling with really short overhangs in front and rear. There are many styling elements that later find its way into production. The first generation Tiburon/Coupe adopted similar head-lights and curvy side-line when it came to production a few years later.
The information and images about the Hyundai HCD-2 concept car are very limited and you will hardly find anything when browsing through the web. But if you do, please let me know.
