Hyundai To Launch HB20 Sport With 1,0L Turbo Engine In Brasil
Hyundai Motor Brasil may soon launch a sportier version of their highly-successful HB20 hatchback!
According to latest reports, the sporty HB20 will be based on the Hyundai HB20 5-door hatchback, which has just received a mid-cycle facelift for the 2016 model year.
Set to go on sale in Brasil next year, the model will boast sportier styling and new turbocharged engine.
Under the hood, the HB20 “sport” will pack Hyundai’s brand-new 1,0L T-GDI turbo engine, which is already on sale in some Kia and Hyundai’s models on sale in Europe.
In terms of styling, the upcoming Hyundai HB20 Sport is expected to feature a more aggressive exterior appearance.
We believe the model will borrow many of its styling cues from the HB20 R-spec concept car, which has been officially unveiled at the Sao Paolo auto show last year.
That means the HB20 Sport will incorporate the concept’s sporty body kit, larger bumper air intakes and revised signature grille with featuring a “Sport” badge.
The hot hatchback is expected to receive a set of larger wheels & tires and will sit lower to the ground.
The whole powertrain and tuning package will improve the car’s on-road behaviour and enable a more spirited drive.
We are really looking forward to this rocket pocket, however…
… Hyundai has yet to officially confirm the release of a sporty version of their best-selling model.
But, due to the huge popularity of the HB20 in Brasil, it may not take too long until we actually see the vehicle hit local roads.
Let’s refresh our minds with some photos and specifications of the HB20 R-spec concept car.
