Hyundai ads a 36-mpg Accent Blue to its US line-up
Hyundai ads another “Blue” model to its US range. The 2010 Hyundai Accent Blue achieves up to 36 mpg!
Hyundai has announced it has updated its sub-compact Accent for the 2010 model year. The 2010 Hyundai Accent received several technical enhancements to improve its fuel efficiency, as well as a number of new standard features.
The Korean carmaker has also introduced a new entry-level Hyundai Accent Blue, priced at around $10.000, that achieves 27 mpg in the city and 36 mpg when highway driving.
The 2010 Hyundai Accent receives similar technical and aerodynamic upgrades as the 2010 Hyundai Elantra (Blue). Those include aerodynamic improvements, lower friction engine components, low-rolling-resistance tires and “smart” alternator management system.
The entry level Hyundai Accent Blue features similar upgrades as other Accents, but ads lowered ride height and updated transmission gear ratios. All updates are aimed at lowering its fuel consumption. As mentined before, Hyundai Accent Blue achieves combined fuel economy of 31 mpg (27 mpg city and 36mpg highway).
The Accent continues to be powered by 1.6L four-cylinder engine that generates 110 horsepower. The engine is coupled to either a five-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
Standard equipment on the 2010 Hyundai Accent includes sport-tuned power assisted rack-and-pinion steering, five-speed manual transmission, EcoShift indicator to inform the driver of the optimal time to shift gears and six airbags including dual front, side and head curtain airbags.
Entry level Accent also features a six-way adjustable driver seat with armrest, variable intermittent windshield wipers, rear spoiler, rear window defroster, 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback, adjustable head restraints for all seating positions, cabin air filtration, tachometer and digital clock.
Other updates for the 2010 model year include the addition of iPod/USB ports to auxiliary input on all audio- equipped models, standard steering wheel audio controls on Accent SE, optional on Accent GLS, standard blue backlit gauges on all models, standard cruise control and sunroof on Accent SE while ABS is now available on Accent GS.
