Hyundai’s 2013 Super Bowl Commercials
Hyundai’s 2013 Super Bowl commercials to highlight the all-new Santa Fe SUV!
2013 will mark the sixth straight year that Hyundai has run ads during the Super Bowl.
The big game this year will feature no less than 5 game-day ads, four of which are brand new. A pair of ads will air during the pre-game show, with another two running during the game.
Each of the Hyundai’s 2013 Super Bowl commercials will take a real life moment and add a touch of humor, with a Hyundai car playing a role in each. The goal is to use humor to show off the performance or particular function in a way that is fun and memorable.
Hyundai Super Bowl ad No.1
The star of the Super Bowl ad blitz is the 60-second pre-kick spot called “Epic Play Date.”
The ad is inspired by the all-new 7-passenger Santa Fe, with the viewer being taken on a play date they won’t soon forget.
The ad shows a full day of family fun, with the background music written and played by a legendary rock band, which also just happen to have a cameo in the ad.
Super Bowl Ad No.2
A 30-second spot called “Team” will show up during the first quarter. This ad is a pint-sized homage to the action movies we all know and love.
The piece is a “tables turned” tale with a twist, featuring a young boy who tackles neighborhood bullies with the help of his dream team.
The 7-passenger Hyundai Santa Fe once again gets the starring role, as it helps mom and son face the challenge together.
Hyundai Super Bowl Commercial No.3
Once the second quarter kicks off, a 30-second spot called “Stuck” will be next up. In this ad, viewers will embark on an epic road trip with a young couple who run into some obstacles along the way.
The ad uses humor, empathy, and the slick maneuverability of the Sonata Turbo to help the couple get around the items that were leaving them stuck.
Hyundai TV commercial No.4
A very familiar voice will be heard in the voiceover for another pre-game spot known as “Excited.”
The 429-horsepower, 8-speed Hyundai Genesis R-Spec will be shown racing round a track, as dramatic commentary from legendary sportscaster Gus Johnson highlights the action.
Commercial No.5
The fifth spot, “Don’t Tell,” will also air pre-game, and will be a fun look at family time spent with Mom and Dad.
Steve, Shannon, vice president of Marketing, Hyundai Motor America, believes that cars are more than just transportation, and are in fact now part of our everyday adventures of every size.
He said that Hyundai went out of their way to create ads that would showcase how their line-up of vehicles are “there for you” in every situation.
Genesis R-Specs, 7-Seat Santa Fe, Sonata Turbo
From fun play dates in the Santa Fe to skillfully driving a tough road in the Sonata Turbo, the ads show how Hyundai vehicles act as a companion through all of your life experiences.
The all-new Santa Fe gets the MVP award this Super Bowl season, with roles in three of the five ads. The Santa Fe delivers on a number of fronts, with functionality, comfort, and versatility leading the way.
A bold design and high-output powertrains with Gasoline Direct Injection -GDI make it the obvious team leader.
Greg Braun, executive creative director at INNOCEAN USA, said that the work he and his team did for the Hyundai ads this year are among the most innovative ever.
He said that Hyundai is a hit with consumers because they are culturally relevant, which is exactly what the 30-second spots are meant to convey.
Braun said that the ads were created to recognize the true Hyundai heroes – the car drivers – and how their connection to their cars can enable and inspire them on a daily basis.
Hyundai will also be using a number of different social media channels to add an interactive touch to their 2013 Super Bowl ad campaign. Chief among those will be the connection with Facebook, where viewers can get a dual screen experience that will make them feel like the star of the big game.
