Earlier this week, we showed off a few sketches of the upcoming 2017 Hyundai Grandeur (known as the Azera in US), and while it was fun to get an idea of what to expect, we were also aware that these types of renderings don’t always give a true reflection of what the car will look like.
The guesswork has now been taken out of the equation, as Hyundai have now revealed official images of the all-new Grandeur, featuring shots of the exterior design and the cabin.
The 6th generation Hyundai Grandeur is set to launch in Korea next month, and it will serve as the first vehicle in a new design era for the brand.
2017 Grandeur signals the future of Hyundai design
While this model still maintains many of the design cues from the Grandeur (Azera in US market) models of the past, there is no denying that the exterior design is more glamorous and sophisticated than anything we have seen before.
The feature that immediately jumps out at you is the new three-dimensional cascading grille. It’s a seriously dramatic new look for the front of the 2017 Grandeur, and that is a theme that is carried all the way to the back, thanks in large part to some rather beautiful detailing.
The silhouette of the new Grandeur premium sedan is one that oozes elegance, whilst still being incredibly dynamic. While the vehicle may look graceful from the side, it’s one that shows off some real power from the front.
The slim headlight set-up creates a lower center of gravity that makes it look like a powerful beast on the prowl. The use of character lines from front to back create a sensuous style that is very sexy indeed.
Fans of older generations of the Hyundai Grandeur will love that the rear lighting set-up remains essentially the same as it has always been.
We are entering a new era in design for Hyundai, and the wonderful looking cascading grille is where it all begins. The new sense of style is more than just that, though, as powerful character lines and a muscular look around back also seem to be part of the new look.
This is a vehicle that is well proportioned, and which clearly show that it is a car that is beautiful, yet also one that has some real power to show off once you get behind the wheel.
Getting behind the wheel will prove to be a joy for more than just the way the new Grandeur rides and handles. The cabin is incredibly comfortable, and shows of a layered horizontal dashboard that gives the feeling of extra space. Better materials have been used throughout, and the use of color is clever in that it makes the interior feel inviting.
