2018 Hyundai Azera Teased Ahead Of Its Official Korean Debut
First teaser images of the 2018 Hyundai Azera premium sedan released…
There has been a lot of excitement around the release of the new Hyundai Azera (Grandeur in the Korean market), and it’s about to reach fever pitch with the release of a number of teaser sketches ahead of its Korean-market unveiling next month.
The thing with these sorts of teasers is that the automakers tends to exaggerate things a little in order to spice the vehicle up a little.
Judging by what we have seen from spy shots of the new 2018 Hyundai Azera, these sketches may actually be right on the money in terms of looks and design.
If that is indeed the case, then there is reason to be excited, because the sportier body style that the new Azera is wearing looks absolutely fantastic.
It can even be argued that this model looks more like the Genesis G80 than the outgoing Azera, which we hope doesn’t cause any sort of brand confusion.
The official word from Hyundai concerning the design is that while it may be a bold departure from what we are used to, there are still plenty of elements in place that will make the vehicle unmistakably recognizable as the Hyundai Azera.
It’ll be interesting to see how the new look appeals to the younger generation outside of Korea, as this is a model that has had the perception of being more suited to an older, more distinguished crowd.
One thing that is clear is that this will be the start of a new era in design for Hyundai. The new cascading grille will become a signature feature, as will a few other premium touches.
Hyundai have not yet revealed any specs or engine options for the upcoming Azera redesign, but we expect the model to be available with upgraded 4-cylinder and V6 gasoline engines (mated to 8-speed automatic transmission).
There is also a possibility of a 2018 Azera hybrid model in the Korean market.
2018 Hyundai Azera release date
The midsize sedan segment in the US has not been kind to Hyundai of late, but we still expect the 2018 Azera to be made available stateside.
The US-spec Hyundai Azera will be officially unveiled sometime next year, but it’s unclear whether that will come in Detroit in January, or in New York in March.
Update: Hyundai Azera will not arrive to the States!
