Hyundai Azera receives top safety award for excellent performance in front, side, rollover and rear impact evaluations!
The redesigned 2012 Hyundai Azera near-luxury sedan, which went on sale earlier this year, received a Top Safety Pick award from the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety -IIHS.
The IIHS gives a Top Safety Pick award only to those vehicles that are recognized to provide the highest levels of crash protection to the driver and passenger.
The Azera safety credentials weren’t really in question though, since the 2012 Azera boasts up to date safety technology.

2012 Hyundai Azera safety features
The car is equipped with 9 airbags (including driver’s knee airbag!) and features a plethora of standard safety systems including ABS brakes with Brake Assist technology, vehicle stability management -VSM system, traction control -TCS and electronic stability control -ESC.
Additionally, the vehicle also offers an impact-reducing seat system with optimized seat back structure that eliminates the need for active front head restraints.
According to Hyundai, the new seat safety system reduces head and neck injuries by 17 percent over the front seats in the previous generation Azera, which was equipped with active front head restraints.
Furthermore, the all-new Hyundai Azera 2012 (Model Year) also features a three-point seatbelts for all five occupants and lower anchors and tethers for children -LATCH safety system.
The stylish Azera near-luxury sedan is already the seventh Hyundai vehicle to score the Top Safety Pick award!
Previously, the Top Safety Pick award has also been given to the popular Sonata mid-size sedan, Elantra compact sedan, Genesis and Equus luxury sedans, and Tucson and Santa Fe crossover vehicles. [Source: Hyundai via IIHS]
