2011 Hyundai Sonata outsells 2011 Nissan Altima mid-size sedan
Popular 2011 Hyundai Sonata mid-size sedan outsells 2011 Nissan Altima in the USA.
Hyundai Motor America should be proud of its all-new Sonata. The four-door mid-size sedan, which went on sale earlier this year, is posting higher sales month after month. The 2011 Sonata has been selling so well that Hyundai had to increase production of the model at its US manufacturing plant.
With Sonata’s sales rising so fast, Hyundai is also pulling ahead of its main rivals in the mid-size sedan segment. As our August 2010 sales report revealed, Hyundai Sonata sales totaled 21.399 units last month.
This was enough to overtake the US’ third-best selling vehicle in the mid-size sedan segment, the 2011 Nissan Altima. The 2011 Sonata has also outsold Chevrolet Malibu and Ford Fusion for the past six months, revealed Autodata sales report.
The Sonata-Altima-Accord-Camry battle is going to intensify once Kia launches its new Optima sedan. The 2011 Optima is going on sale in the last quarter of the year and will be available with the same engine line-up as 2011 Sonata. In addition to that, the upcoming Optima will offer an eye-catching exterior design, which will probably lure some customers from Hyundai stores.
