Earlier this year, Hyundai announced it will launch a gas-sipping 2010 Elantra Blue in the US market by the end of the summer. The summer is gone and Hyundai has now released official press release for the 2010 model year Elantra Blue, which starts at $14.145 (excluding shipping).
What is Hyundai Elantra Blue?
Hyundai Elantra Blue is the latest addition to the Elantra line-up. It is an entry level Elantra model that features revised technical components, which improve its fuel economy.
Through relatively simple engineering enhancements, Hyundai engineers improved Elantra’s fuel economy by up to 8 percent in both highway and city ratings. When city driving, Hyundai Elantra Blue, equipped with five-speed manual gearbox, achieves 26 mpg (US), while ratings for highway driving stand at 35 mpg (US).
The 2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue, equipped with automatic transmission achieves 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
To reach these class-leading fuel economy numbers Hyundai Elantra’s engine and transmission received a wide number of technical improvements including a lower friction engine components, engine calibration changes, revised transmission gear ratios, smart alternator management system and shift indicator.
These changes affect only Elantra sedan and don’t apply to the 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring. OF NOTE: Hyundai will soon introduce the 2010 Accent Blue to the US consumers, with similar technical enhancements and improved fuel economy ratings.
