New Hyundai Veloster teaser image released
Hyundai releases second teaser image of its all-new Veloster sports coupe!
It was last month, when Hyundai Motor America released its first teaser image of the forth-coming Veloster coupe. Today, only about a week before its official premiere, the fastest growing carmaker on the planet released another one, revealing the car’s unconventional rear hatch and third (single) door design.
Unlike its main competitors, such as VW Scirocco and Honda CR-Z which both sport a conventional two-door exterior lay-out, the all-new Veloster coupe features an asymmetrical design with a single door on the driver’s side and a pair of doors on the opposite side for passengers. While third door might not look the most appealing to everyone it should make the rear seat more accessible, while adding an attention-grabbing, quirky touch to the hatchback.
As we have learned before, the base model of new Hyundai Veloster will be powered by Hyundai’s 1.6L GDI four-cylinder engine and will reach 40 mpg. It will also be equipped with the automaker’s all-new dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which will later spread over to other Hyundai compact cars including the 2012 Elantra and next generation Hyundai i30.
There are no other official details about the long-awaited Veloster sports coupe available at this moment. However, the official Hyundai Veloster release date is only a week away (2011 North American International Auto Show), so expect to get detailed information about the car’s specs, pricing and equipment packages sometime by the end of next week.

Can’t wait!
Don`t soil yourself! This vehicle has a very odd configuration with one large door like a 2 door coupe on the drivers side and 2 doors like a normal 4 door sedan on the passenger side……..rather odd don`t you think? Just saying………..
Hyundai stop “Teasing” us already and give us some information on the new 2012 Accent and when to expect the unveiling? This April in New York and dealerships by June? Will the 5 dr hatchback be released at same time or held for another year or given instead to the Kia Rio5 like back in 06`? The Accent is the oldest and most in need of replacement yet gets to bow last…go figure. While your at it, reconsider and give the N.A. model the same grill as the Chinese” Verna” and not the cheap nose job that have been leaked in early released prototypes
@ Heywood
I agree with your comment on the odd configuration. I feel a suicide door, that would be practically hidden when closed would flow better. If they were making one side with 2 regular doors, i don’t get why they didn’t do it to the other.
On the other hand, I disagree with your comment on the nose job. The whole sporty luxury look hyundai is going for simply does not work with that nose job imo. I prefer the RB concept front end as opposed to that, because
a) It doesn’t look like a squished sonata nose.
b) It works better with the fluidic sculpture lines.
I personally like it, the door configuration could be a make or break thing for this car! The car will do really good or really bad IMO.
john p: You right, that odd door configuration will be a deal breaker one way or the other. Thats a hell of a dice roll to make considering the risk vs profit if the vehicle bombs. I personally would leave that gamble to Las Vegas and market something that would be a lot more widely accepted.
