Supercharged Hyundai Genesis V6

Most automakers love to create a buzz when they enter their vehicles into bi name motor shows, but at the SEMA show, taking place in Las Vegas from Nov. 1st-4th, Hyundai will be looking to create a roar.

Hyundai America Technical Center Inc. -HATCI teamed up with Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc. to produce a prototype of the popular Hyundai Genesis Coupe, named the Hurricane Genesis SC; a model that has been 2 years in the making.

The original model has been enhanced in all areas, from power to braking, exterior and all points in between, with the goal being to show the supercharged capabilities of the Coupe’s V6 engine. This was achieved by supercharging the original engine with a liquid to air intercooler that produced a ground shaking 450 horsepower.

Hyundai Green Zone Project success

Most automakers have made the move to developing hybrid vehicles and controlling emissions in an effort to make their cars more environmentally friendly, but Hyundai has taken that effort a step further by engaging in a global eco-conservation effort that will have a direct positive impact on certain parts of the world.

Hyundai’s foray into the conservation effort began in 2008 with the planting of suaeda glauca (seepweeds) across 30 square kilometers of the Kunshantag desert.

While many may find it odd to plant in the desert, the benefits of doing so are actually great, as the yellow dust that is spread to large areas of Northern China and South Korea during seasonal storms can produce a number of nasty health problems. That the area chosen lies some 660 kilometers north of Beijing tells how strong and far-reaching those storms can be.

Toyota, Honda loosing ground, Hyundai benfits most

It’ been 7 full months since the distressing events of the Japanese tsunami, and in that time the country has worked hard to pick up the pieces, but despite their best efforts, the Japanese auto industry is still very much feeling the effects of the tragedy.

The result has been a major shortage of vehicles that has caused the market share for the Japanese auto industry, the 3rd largest in the world, to drop by a full 4 points over the previous year according to figures released by Kelley Blue Book (KBB).

It’s a cut throat market, and those losses have meant good news for their competitors, with Hyundai being one of the companies that has benefitted greatly from the Japanese car shortages.

The last decade or so has seen a major worldwide push for a greener, more environmentally friendly approach to energy which has spread to the field of alternative fuels for the auto industry.

That move has seen a number of different hybrid vehicles make it onto the market, but with gas prices skyrocketing, consumer demand has grown for an even cleaner, more cost effective alternative to gas, which may come in the form of hydrogen fuel cells.

Hyundai has been at the forefront of the fuel cell development, and their commitment was rewarded today when their ix35 fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) was chosen as the real world test vehicle by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU), an organization which has the complete backing of the European Commission.
