Hyundai US sales: July 2010
Hyundai US sales in July 2010 increase 19 percent to 54.106 units.
It’s great to look at latest Hyundai sales report coming from the USA. The Korean largest automaker just revealed it has sold more than 54.000 new vehicles during the month of July 2010, while its monthly sales increased 19 percent, compared to a year ago. This represents an all-time sales record for the month of July and marks only the fourth time Hyundai has surpassed 50.000 units in a month.
The Alabama-built 2011 Sonata sedan continued selling at a record pace last month. Although US Hyundai dealers sold 17,836 units of Sonata in July, the model failed to take the first place at Hyundai’s monthly sales chart. Surprisingly, the all-new Sonata was beaten by the outgoing Hyundai Elantra compact car, which experienced a significant sales increase compared to a year ago (18,215 units sold last month – 13,616 units sold in July 2009).
The US-built Santa Fe SUV continues to sell good. Last month, it was the third best-selling Hyundai vehicle in the US-market. Hyundai sold 7,047 units of 2010 Santa Fe SUV. Santa Fe’s little brother, the Tucson crossover, saw its July sales soar more than 200 percent for the fourth month in a row.
Hyundai Genesis sales continued at a brisk pace thanks in part to its mid-luxury segment-leading 53 percent residual value, exceeding such strong competitors as BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz S Class.

Wanna know why the outgoing Elantra beat the new Sonata in sales?
For one, there are rebates on the 2010 Elantra vs. no rebates on the 2011 Sonata.
Second, dealers are having a hard time keeping inventory, except occasional GLS models. They can’t crank out production enough to keep up with demand. My closest dealership has two 2011 Sonata’s in stock and that’s it. For over a week, they had 0 (ZERO,ZILCH,NADA) in stock at all.

Im so glad hyundai is doing so well in sales. Its true the dealership here in nears Boston has only 2 sonatas left. But im so excited about the new elantra. Im on the market for a car and this is the one im most interested in. If the next elantra has at least 160hp im sold.

The Elantra and Sonata are IMO two cars worth looking at during the recession. You get stylishness, reliability, and value in a package

I’m thinking some people who went to buy Tucsons or Sonatas ended up in Elantras. Most dealers near me have 0-4 Tucsons. Maybe 4-12 Sonatas. 5-12 Tucsons and 25-40 Sonatas has been the normal before the new models came out.

Not suprised that the Elantras are moving with the rebates. The upcoming one looks like another home run for Hyundai. Toyota and Honda must be looking over their shoulders at the direct hit bombs that are being lobbed at them

Derosiers just posted sales for Canada. Hyundai again outsold Honda in Canada AND Hyundai-Kia as a group outsold Toyota as a group in Canada!

19% sounds paltry compared to other months, but few carmakers actually saw any growth from last year for the month of July.
