Well theres an article on automobile mag that states the next elantra will use a 2.0L engine capable of 168hp and 145ft/lbs. I don’t know whether this is GDI or not.

Its funny how they make this completely new engine family(Nu) that is 2.0 litres and makes 168hp with GDI. The 2.0 Theta can almost make that much with 165 hp. They could be making over 180 hp with the old 2.0 with GDI at MOST.

Well you have to understand at a time when the gov. is getting more strict about fuel economy and emitions regulations these car company have to find a way to balance between hp and fuel economy. Hyundai is going the route of becoming more fuel efficent. I think 168hp is plenty for a car that competes in the compact sadan catagory.

The 2.0 Theta makes 156, not 165, in US spec in the Forte.

He’s probably talking about the 2.0 Theta coming up in the 2011 Hyundai Tucson which produces 164hp.

the 2.0 and 2.4 theta engines in the forte are not GDI, the new 2.0 and 2.4 theta II engines will have GDI.
