Hyundai sales continue to grow! May 2010 sales report reveals strong sales numbers for new Sonata and Tucson crossover.

Latest monthly sales report from Hyundai Motor America reveals that Hyundai vehicles continue to gain the ground in the US market. During the month of May 2010, the South Korean largest carmaker experienced strong demand from US consumers. Sales last month have grown by 33 percent compared to a year ago to 49.045 units, while automaker’s year-to-date sales are up 23 percent compared with 2009.

Hyundai sales in May 2010 were lead by strong sales of new Sonata sedan. The 2011 Hyundai Sonata saw its sales soar 92 percent, to 21.195 units, over last May! This is the model’s best-ever sales result as far as we know. So far this year, Hyundai dealers already delivered more than 70.000 new Sonatas to US consumers!!

The all-new Sonata sedan remains to beĀ  the third-best selling mid-size sedan in the USA in retail sales, well ahead of Ford Fusion and Nissan Altima and also the most searched vehicle on Edmunds.com! Quite an achievement for the Hyundai brand, isn’t it!?

The ageing Hyundai Elantra also performed really good last month. With 9.781 units sold, it was Hyundai’s second best-selling vehicle in May 2010. The 2010 Santa Fe SUV rounded up the top three with more than 6.000 units sold.

Dave Zuchowski, vice present of national sales at Hyundai Motor America commented: “As we continue to refresh and expand our vehicle line-up, we are clearly appealing to consumers who have placed Hyundai on their shopping list for the very first time. This considerable broadening of our customer base comes at a time when we are continuing to reduce our fleet mix, thus improving the overall quality of our market share.”
