The 2011 Hyundai Tucson model will be offered with heated and ventilated seat system!

Amerigon Incorporated company, a leader in developing and marketing products based on advanced thermoelectric technologies, announced that Hyundai Motor Company will begin offering their proprietary heated and ventilated seat system in some of its vehicles sold in the US market.

Named Climate Control Seat, the heated and ventilated system delivers actively controlled heated or cooled air to a seat occupant. The system will first appear in the 2011 Hyundai Tucson model and will be offered as an option on the front seats. Later in the year, Hyundai will also offer the Climate Control Seat in the up-coming Equus and Genesis luxury sedans.

According to Amerigon President and Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Coker, Amerigon’s engineers have worked closely with Hyundai engineers to develop the system and are pleased that the Korean largest carmaker selected their heated and ventilated seat system for the 2011 Hyundai Tucson.

“We believe our heated and ventilated seat systems are an important extension of our product line, especially for automotive manufacturers such as Hyundai who are interested in providing consumers with increased levels of luxury and comfort in mid-range vehicles,” Coker added.

A few more words on the heated and ventilated seat system for 2011 Hyundai Tucson:

The system combines passive cooling or ventilation with active heating. For cooler environments or more economical vehicle lines, a ventilated seat may be a viable solution, bringing ambient cabin air to the surface instead of the “cooled” air produced by the thermoelectric technology.

In the cooling mode, the heater is turned off and the fan provides ambient cabin air to the seat surface. Amerigon’s heated and ventilated seat system fits within the same envelope as the active CCS system, so multiple Amerigon applications can be installed within or across various vehicle platforms.
