Hyundai UK celebrates record-high sales in March 2010…

Yesterday we reported that Hyundai achieved some smashing sales numbers in Australia last month, while the i30 hatch has become the best-selling compact car in the country “Down Under”.

Now, we are getting some great news from other part of the globe, as well. Hyundai UK today released their official sales figures for the month of March 2010 and those reveal that the automaker had sold record-high 15.241 new cars and SUVs in the UK market last month.

This is Hyundai’s highest sales number since the company entered the market and beats previous monthly sales record of 11.031 units, which was set in September 2009. Considering that Hyundai sold 28.036 new vehicles in the whole of 2008, this sure is a remarkable achievement for the brand!

Scrappage scheme, introduced by UK government last year, have helped Hyundai to achieve previous sales record, but last month, only one in three new registrations were to scrappage customers.

It was believed by many automobile industry analytics that enormous success Hyundai has had with scrappage will nothing but collapse once the program ends. However, these latest record-high sales numbers prove that Hyundai has built up a strong following and its success will likely continue long into the future.

Hyundai i10 mini-car has been the top performer in March, clocking up a total of 6.195 units. It was followed by Hyundai i30 hatch with 4.584 units sold and Hyundai i20 with 3.570 units sold.

The automaker also revealed that the 2010 ix35 crossover, which went on sale on March 25th, has also seen a very strong initial demand from consumers. Hyundai claims that with 500 customers ordering the vehicle since being put on sale 14 days ago, this was the most successful launch of any new Hyundai vehicle in the UK market.
