2011 Hyundai Sonata sedan price: starts at $19.915
The all-new 2011 Hyundai Sonata sedan priced from $19.915!
The 2011 Sonata sedan, which made its official inaugural debut at the L.A. auto show a few weeks ago and already received plenty of positive feedback from automotive media, is scheduled to hit the U.S. Hyundai dealerships within a few weeks.
The sixth-generation Sonata incorporates Hyundai’s “Fluidic Sculpture Design” and features state-of-the-art powertrain technology. It also boasts a vast increase in performance and improvement in fuel efficiency. According to Hyundai Motor America, the new Sonata tops the mid-size sedan segment cars in fuel economy with a rating of 35 mpg highway and 24 mpg city.
At the beginning, the 2011 Sonata will only be available with a 2.4L four-cylinder Theta II engine, which features Gasoline Direct Injection GDI technology and generates as much as 200 horsepower. The engine can be coupled to either an in-house developed 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
For the first time, there will be no V6 engine available in Sonata’s US line-up. Instead, Hyundai plans to unveil a turbo-charged Sonata at the end of 2010, as well as a fuel-sipping hybrid version sometime during 2011.
Pricing for the all-new Sonata will start at affordable $19.195 for the base GLS model equipped with 2.4L four-cylinder gasoline engine and coupled to 6-speed manual gearbox. Moving up to the next level (Sonata SE) model will cost you $22.595, while the range-topping Sonata Limited model will be available from $25.295.

Great pricing for this car, I think this car looks as good as any Lexus or Benz for half the price! This car has really good content!
February 2nd, 2010 at 11:20 pm
To all my fellow fans: The price is rising and the incentives have been roughly the same over the years, fluctuating depending on recession and boom times. Get the Sonata while you can!
To the haters: Go ahead and keep yacking about how actual Sonata pricing is lower because of the incentives. The ones who’re getting the last laugh these days is Hyundai. Go check the forums. Tons of proud Hyundai/Kia owners, something you would’ve never seen 5 years ago. I am one of them. ‘07 Optima runs like a sports car and gives me a quiet ride for 60% the price of an overpriced Accord.

lol What a bargain!
February 3rd, 2010 at 9:12 am
This car is the next step in the beginning of the “new Hyundai.” Sweet!!!
February 3rd, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Loving this new Sonata…Almost want to trade in my azera for this!!
February 3rd, 2010 at 6:37 pm
That next Azera is going to be a looker too. Id wait until it debuts in a few months to decide if I were you.
That’s if you’re a harddcore Azera fan.
Hey EB, Im trying to get people excited about next gen Azera. If they are going to make it, then it has to sell a lot better.
February 3rd, 2010 at 10:53 pm
I actually like the exterior looks of the current gen. Azera, a new-look interior and better mpg would do definitely excite me more.

I’m a Sorento Owner at kia-world.net.
I saw your comments at kia-world.net, too.
i read your comments at many other sites.
I sincerely ask you.
Please can you ’shut up’ at unrelated topic?
for exmaple, you often appear at caradvice.com.au.
why you writing so many garbage comments (overhype hyundai so much) at toyota recall topic? Many caradvice users feel nervous by you. you looks like a troll.
I’m a Hyundai/Kia fan, too. I really sick and tired by you. you try to making bad image of H/K.
February 4th, 2010 at 3:28 am
It’s actually $19,195 not $19,915
February 4th, 2010 at 5:16 am
Ya HyundaiSmoke is a real loser. He goes on any site he can find and uses the same id and spam post about Hyundai all day long. He’s really not helping out Hyundai cause he does go off topic. Like this article its about sonata but he starts talking about the azera. He always try to hype other hyundai products. You can find him spamming this site all over the place. I love hyundai but too but i dont spam all over the place.

An Article after 16 days, wow!!!!”
you can find this at the “hyundai aim to sell 1 million in china” article. Yet again going off topic.
See this loser actually counts how many days this site put up a new article. Get a life.. loser
February 4th, 2010 at 5:03 pm
I think the pricing of the 2011 Sonata is very competitive and the release comes at a time when its main rival Toyota is reeling from a series of crippling missteps which Hyundai will benefit from.
For quite some time, Hyundai’s quality, reliability and safety has improved to the point where the brand can now realize stronger brand positioning.
The new 2011 Sonata projects a high level of sophistication lacking in their current Japanese competitors and U.S. consumers are starting to take notice.
Carzak.com is predicting that Hyundai will deliver over 200k Sonata U.S. sales this year! If their prediction proves true, and there is no reason why it shouldn’t, Hyundai will have moved to the next level.
Hyundai. “Let quality be your guide!”
February 4th, 2010 at 5:10 pm
I only have one gripe with the new sonata’s packaging…and that the absense of some features on the SE model (i.e. heated seats, full leather interior , auto dimming mirrors, side mirror turn signal indicators, etc) …why cant you get all of that and the sport suspension? It kinda makes it hard to choose…or hell include the sports suspension on limited!!
February 4th, 2010 at 5:37 pm
Psilent1, I think you may get your wish. If Hyundai starts receiving feedback from new SE Model owners about wanting these options, then I’ll guarantee you’ll seem them included in the very near future. Perhaps as soon as the second half of the year.
Until then, stay tuned.
Hyundai. “Let quality be your guide!”
February 4th, 2010 at 9:42 pm
Maybe the sport suspension will appear in the turbo model set for late 2010?
February 4th, 2010 at 9:55 pm
Get out of my damm face RogerL and Sorrento owner with that crap. Hold up.
You mean to tell me that you care about me using Netiquette, when you have the nerve to follow me around. Real Losers follow people around and then try to make them look like fools in a puiblic forum. By the way, I dont believe in netiquette, so you’re barking up the wrong tree here.
If you dont like how I advocate for Hyundai/KIA then you’re the one with the problem.
If it wasnt for me, there would be many Non Hyundai/KIA websites that wouldnt cover us at all or ould cover us hardly. They see a fanatic like myself and now they take us seriously. Lets be real here, I stillgo to many websites and say something pro-Hyundai/KIA and they think Im a DAMMED SALESMAN becuase, “oh my God somebody actually likes yundai, the world is aout to blow up.”
You know why they think Im a salesman, becuase hardly any of you have the balls to let people know what Hyundai is about and to let people know they hey people actually like these cars. I see a few of you in other places like Pill, and I respect him and a few o the other guys a lot for that. Everywhere I go he’s always fighting for the brand.
Its you guys always quiet trapped in your shell that are the problem. Dont get jealous, join me damm it!!!!
February 5th, 2010 at 2:39 am
Lol you must be real stupid HyundaiSmoke. You really think you had anything to do with the coverage Hyundai has been getting around all the websites. No its not you don’t be so full of yourself.
And nobody follows your dumb ass around. We look at different car sites too and just happen to find your dumb ass spamming the comment board. Its one thing to be passionate about hyundai but its another to troll around spamming their boards.
Hyundai doesnt need you to advertise for them. The only reason why Hyundai has become a threat to any auto maker was with the introduction of the Genesis. Thats when auto sites began taking notice. The coverage it got brought them brand awareness. So stfu with the thinking that you had anything to do with that, if so hyundai would pay you for it.
Im glad to know that im not the only one annoyed by you. If you woulnd’t spam the post so much i would take you more seriously. Sometimes i feel like your pulling info out your ass cause you wont even quote where you get it from.
February 5th, 2010 at 3:51 am
Roger, Whats your fucking problem dude? Im starting to think you work for the company, and dont like the fact that I announce pertinent information, etc….
If you were just a regular poster why bother?
Its so easy to figure something out, you can just put 2 and 2 together in terms of powertrain choices, size fitments, etc…. Dude, I get the info from everywhere including this ste. Hyundai is not the hardest company in the world to figure out you know. As a matter of fact they kind of leave themselves vulnerable to industrial espionage.
Never mind ill just ignore you, becuase you cant even be civilized.
Hey, I thought we were all Hyundai Lovers and becuase of that we have a kinship. I guess not.
February 5th, 2010 at 3:56 am
Plus this isnt some College classroom where you have to recite sources for anything you say. Sometimes Ive read something, and its been a few months back or whatever.
IM NOT GOING TO HUNT FOR THE INFO ALL NIGHT TO KEEP YOUR ASS HAPPY!!!!
February 5th, 2010 at 5:46 am
Wow, HMC adding all those features and still being able to undercut the Camry/Accord is simply an amazing feat.
I have owned several Japanese/European vehicles and never considered any Hyundai vehicle before the Genesis Sedan. Now, as amazing as this sounds, i would now take most Korean vehicles over their Japanese competitors.. The Genesis Sedan, Genesis Coupe and now the new Sonata are simply incredible value.
Impressive an understatement..
February 5th, 2010 at 6:01 am
I will seriously consider a Sonata in the future and for me, it’s not even close - Sonata outshines the Accord on all fronts and, uhh, no comment on the Camry.. (I’ve owned 2 Toyota’s and have had enough, never again).
I’ve done a little research and specs point to this Sonata being bigger, faster, more powerful yet more fuel-efficient with one of the best warranties in the business. I think it happens to look better than the competitors too (especially in black or grey, 17″ rims a must!). This is far better than the Camcord - regardless of price - and being cheaper is simply the cherry on top..
February 5th, 2010 at 6:10 am
Guys, cool it. This discussion blog is about Hyundai. I think this argument has gone on long enough. If anyone doesn’t like someone else’s post on here just DON’T comment about that other person.
Let’s just keep the dialogue about Hyundai vehicles, their latest kick ass designs, excellent safety record, durability, and reliability.
I for one, would like to turn the discussion to how the official launch of the 2011 Sonata will signal the BIG TIME opportunity that the ‘Yota debacle has created for Hyundai to surge ever higher in terms of brand equity and resale.
Yes, I said the word “resale” that used to be a dirty word when the Hyundai brand was mentioned together. Fast forward to 2011 and guess what? The auto brand hierarchy as we know it is now upside down.
Why? Unless you’ve lived in a cave lately you know that Toyota has been in literal free fall having drifted into the Perfect Total Recall Storm. The value of their brand keeps dropping minute by minute as recall after thudding recall has hit them in the you-know-where.
They had a good long ride as the so-called “bullet proof” brand but just how did they get there? Well, it turns out that it wasn’t through the goodness of their hearts and minds. No sir, it was through deceit and cunning. The cunning part just happen to catch up with them about the same time that deceit bought a one-way ticket outta town.
Now it just so happens that Hyundai has the good fortune to be playing the right cards from the deck with the recent launch of the 2010 Tucson and now the 2011 Sonata, and with more fresh product in the pipeline, this changes the game for them in a way they could have only dreamed of.
‘yota’s demise, will catapult Hyundai’s inevitable rise in the U.S. market much faster and farther than planned due to and because of the ‘yota debacle. Hyundai’s brand will grow to become the dominant high value Asian brand and will gain higher acceptance by mainstream U.S. consumers as the brand that redefines quality, value, dependability, affordability and reliability without anyone having to second guess them any more.

HyundaiSmoke, Your effort is not bad thing.
But, you making many noise at unrelated topic. You looks like a ‘troll’.
This is problem.
This is sincerely advice for your image.
You making HyundaiFanboy image as ‘fanatic’.
As a Hyundai/Kia fan, I don’t want it.
I know, I know. Your are not employee of Hyundai.
Because, Your knowledge are not based on Company’s internal affairs. (I can feel it)
And,
When i see HyundaiSomke at any auto site comments section, I just skip it, don’t see it.

This is my concern too.. I want an SE but feel like its missing a few features i really wanted (mirror signals, heated seats). Also, Im guessing theres no way of getting an infinity system in the SE? too bad
February 5th, 2010 at 6:35 pm
Hello guys,
just a question from Germany…
Is the new Sonata already available at Hyundai dealers in the US? How is the reception by the customers? How many did they deliver so far?
greetings,
coffeeaddict
February 5th, 2010 at 8:09 pm
Pill, youre right. We’e supposed to be all Hyundai owners together.
Anyway, on that $19,195 Sonata Im just wondering, are the standard seats leatherette or cloth, becuase they have no option for leathette seating surfaces at all? The Standard Seating for just only $3000 more in the SE is leather with cloth.
Sorrento, Im a Fanatic I love being a Fanatic, and I think we need as many fanatics as possible.
For Example Ford loves its fanatics so much they use its fanatics for marketing campaigns, racing and other promotions. The Fiesta Movement is an example, as Ford knows in this country you have to get people to try before they buy. KIA needs to do something like that with Rio, as Accent has enough buyers to do well. Yet, when Im a fanatic for Hyundai/KIA(A company that needs as many fanatics as it can get) I get Criticized for it. I tell the truth always, and sometimes people arent going to like it. On Car Advice Just becuase I think Proton has a chance at growing and people didnt like that, doesnt make Hyundai/KIA look bad that just makes it look like I think Proton has a chance to grow. Too bad if they booed me they are going to have to get over it.
In the US the culture is see, and believe in it. That means, nobody wll buy anything or do something until others in their circle (family, friends, neighbors, co workers, etc) buy it or do it. Not only buy it, but they have to openly and agressively believe in the product or thing that you’re doing too. That’s why we have pioneers as most people are deep down inside, are well… Cowards. There’s nothing wrong with sensible calculated Cowardice, thats not a sin or anything like that. My point Sorrento, you can have the best product in the world, but if you dont get people excited about it through reciting your own personal experiences, and promoting the future of the company in this country people arent going to buy.
If I was so worried what people think of me, I might have not given Hyundai a chance in the first place years back. Forget what they think, do and believe in what makes sense to you!!!!
February 5th, 2010 at 8:14 pm
coffee addict I hear dealers on the Coasts ae getting them, but out here int he Midwest I see no 2011 Sonata sightings.
You guys in Europe I hear are supposed to get a different Sonata from the US version.
February 5th, 2010 at 10:07 pm
To bad for us Europeans… this US version is a masterpiece! I hope they will make it as good as the US version!
February 5th, 2010 at 10:45 pm
I hear you’lll get the Wagon Variant. Based off the Genus Concept.
February 6th, 2010 at 11:11 am
Hopefully they’ll add more equipment to the SE, especially seeing as how the majority of Sonata’s I’ve seen have been SEs. It’s obvious Hyundai is pushing for it to be the most popular trim level.

Hey Smoke,
Just got back on. It has been awhile. I just built a new computer and I have had to work hours of overtime as of late. I heard you were trying to promote the new Azera. I love that car. I want to buy one when my son graduates high school and moves out an goes to college. I’m thinking 2012.
But because my wife is now in a powerchair I’m leaning Veracruz or something with AWD. Shame Hyundai got rid of the Entourage. But the Azera would be a nice car to go to work in since I do drive 50 miles each way a day… Currently I’m in a Dodge minivan…. don’t say it… but I really would like to be back in a Hyundai again. Since I do design work (Architectural) I am working on ideas for an exclusively ADA vehicle for the handicapped and the elderly on just for fun. These are two groups that are growing very quickly in the states. But I would love to promote the new Azera. What are you up to?
February 7th, 2010 at 2:22 am
I will say, to have this car start at under $20,000 is excellent but I’m sure the one I want would be about $25K. I would want the nav system and the bluetooth package… REAL alloy rims 6speed shiftronic, cruise with fog lights and heated rv mirrors, rain sensing wipers and back-up camera. But this car makes me fall in love with Sonata like I did with my old 2002 all over again.
February 7th, 2010 at 5:28 am
LOL@attaboy.
EB, Im doing fine man, I have just been promoting these sweet products. I love everything. When was the last time you could say with Hyundai/KIA or any other car maker out there that I love everything they are putting out? I want to own everything they are putting out. I saw what looks like to be a replacement for Elantra Toruing/i30 CW based on the HED 5 in spy pics. Attaboy thinks its a Rondo, so I dont know. The point, its more of a good minivan sized crossover you might need to consider. The Sedona will be nice, unless you’re just not into KIA. Hey, the money goes all to the same place, right?
If you guys have seen the Sonata Superbowl commercials yet, wow!!! They easily out did the Genesis commercial last year with simple imagery, and a message that should resonate with many Americans. Affordable Luxury for everybody. Dealers need to hurry up and just put them on the lots. Take a loss on the 10s, do it tommorow, becuase on Monday to those guys who sell Hyundais (I know some of you do) and dont have 2011 Sonatas on your lots, man you will get so many requests for it, it will not be funny.
That KIA commercial is sweet too, and funny.
February 7th, 2010 at 6:46 am
I do love the new 2011 Sonata. There are 2 Limited’s minus Navi here at a Hyundai dealer in my town and 2 Limited’s minus Navi down in Plano (Texas). Only 4 have come in between the 2 dealerships.
My only beef is a lack of Saddle Leather (available even on the new Tucson) Also, no spoiler available either for the SE or the Limited.
Besides these 2 issues, it is a work of art.
February 7th, 2010 at 7:33 am
By the way Attaboy, some sites think its an ix-25 MPV (i20) mpv.

Youll have to use your translator.
February 7th, 2010 at 8:06 pm
yep maybe next gen kia Rondo maybe not, maybe Hyundai “Rondo” equiv. to Kia, but seems too big to be i20 based!
or an i20 elongated wheel base,Kia Venga style but the front end is much longer.
February 8th, 2010 at 1:57 am
JUST SAW A FEW COMMERCIALS FOR THE 2011 SONATA DURING THE SUPERBOWL, VERY NICE!!!
February 8th, 2010 at 9:54 pm
Its the height of a Soul Attaboy, and we all know Soul is on the next Gen Accent/i20 platform, which is a highly modified current Gen Accent/Rio platform. However, its longer than the Soul or Venga its been testing with, which leads me to believe this is something else. This could also be the c’eed MPV they still havent made yet, as the Venga was a Rio MPV.
The HED-5 concept was green lighted for US sale, as a C-Segment Crossover/hatch.
Maybe that design like the Hexagon, or the side rakes, etc… will become the standard design for small wagons and Crossovers.
February 8th, 2010 at 10:00 pm
I know they are Axing Rondo for the US market, in favor of a Forte Hatch. However, the rear lights dont look like they are from KIA.
February 8th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
EB, next gen Azera Spotted again winter testing, with more pics this time.

“I know they are Axing Rondo for the US market, in favor of a Forte Hatch. However, the rear lights dont look like they are from KIA.”
Rondo sell very well in my Canada. i have one and very happy with the car, roomy, confort, no problems, nice 2.4L Theta 2 good on hiway, not so sober as my Accent MC but acceptable for this kind of samll mpv.
just too bad they axing it!

On the Super Bowl note, here is a one-stop site:
http://www.hyundainews.com/Media_Kits/Video_Clips/Index.asp
The Alabama factory clip with workers carrying a car is really well done, the Farve clip is classic but the ‘Luxury for Everyone’ my personal fave.. Louis Vuitton basketball, marble basketball court, lobster - one of the best in recent memory of any commercial I have seen..
February 12th, 2010 at 8:15 am
We purchased the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited here on Feb. 6th, 2011. There were 3, that I am aware of, at the dealership. One sports model and two Limited. We bought the Phantom Black Metallic one. Haven’t had a chance to drive it much because of bad weather recently. After the test drive, driving it home, and to and from church, it’s been sitting in the carport. But, during those times driving it, found it to have quite a bit of pep to it. This is our first Hyundai. I think we are going to like it. Especially since it is supposed to get great mph, and has pep to boot.
February 12th, 2010 at 8:16 am
OOps, meant MPG…hit the wrong key.
February 12th, 2010 at 12:08 pm
Attaboy, I think the Rondo could get a lot better MPG with a GDI 2.4. I guess they figure if they do a Forte hatch they can kill 2 birds with one stone.
1. Have a hatch of a C-Cegment that’s increasing in popularity, and Keep the Spectra 5 Audience, and suck Mazda 3 and Matrix sales.
2. Keep the Rondo Audience, by providng even more power than before without sacrificng space, and the benefit of near mid 30s MPG.
They might keep the Rondo name, but the architecture its sitting on wont exist.
Alex, Hyundai is going to rule the world, sweet!!!
February 12th, 2010 at 12:50 pm
I still think we need more variants of models. I think Accent would do even better than the outstanding sales it receives now if the Hatch had 1 or 2 rear suicide doors. Elantra could do much better if there was a Hatch Elantra Touring instead of a wagon Elantra Touring. I still think Gen Coupe needs to be GDI V6 and a V8 and a 2.4 GDI Turbo, and another coupe Between Accent and Genesis could be developed. Something that uses: Elantra, Sonata, and Azera Engines. 2.0 Turbo, 2.4, 3.8 Lambda. Put it on a Sonata Platform.
Call me Crazy, but I think we need do a Performance range of Bi-Turbo Engines. The whole incoming range The Kappas, Gammas, Lambdas, and Taus.
A 1.6 GDI Bi-Turbo AWD Accent that gets 35 MPG, with 316 HP for under $23K? That would be the hottest hatch EVER!!!!!!
A 2.4 GDI Bi-Turbo AWD Sonata that gets 30 MPG, with 395 HP for under $30K
A 3.8 GDI Bi-Turbo AWD Azera that gets 27 MPG, with 462 HP for under $35K
A 605 HP AWD Super Genesis 4.6 GDI Bi-Turbo that gets 25 MPG, and for under $50K!!!!!
Hyundai could still achieve those fuel efficiency targets, yet go crazy with the power.
February 18th, 2010 at 12:07 am
Wow…I can see when I am ready to buy again… it will be real hard! All of the upcoming models are nice! I like the shape of the new Azera and Sonata!
February 22nd, 2010 at 9:12 am
HyundaiSmoke: Dude seriously what the heck are you smoking? Half the time you don’t speak ANY sense at all. Suicide doors aren’t within Hyundai’s interests due to safety and costs. An NA GDI in a Gen Coupe won’t be good for tuners, which surprise surprise, is Hyundai’s main market. Just have a look at the DI versions of Nissan’s VQ. And yes I do call you crazy about the “Bi-Turbo” lineup. Those 4 cylinder models having a twin turbo setup is stupid and from a manufacturer’s standpoint, impossible. Also, do you even understand how an engine or a twin turbo setup works? Just because you add a turbo setup doesn’t mean you instantly get over 200hp, especially out of a 1.6L I4. Apart from a parallel twin turbo setup on a 4 cylinder being extremely difficult to develop, it will be extremely inefficient, heavy, costly and complicated. Also consider the fact that 3 of the 4 vehicles you listed are FWD. Drivability is gone out of the window well before you have that much power. Maintenance? Reliability? Replacement parts cost? And that’s only part of the problem. If these figures (incl. the price) was even possible, why don’t you think every company out there hasn’t made at least one model like this? “Think about it”
“Hyundai could still achieve those fuel efficiency targets, yet go crazy with the power.” Yeah funny… and whilst they’re at it, why don’t they just raise every model’s price by 75% to compensate for the billions invested in making stupid cars that they can’t sell at a sustainable level?
Seriously, once you start talking sense, I WILL respect you. Right now though, you’re just another fanboy smoking pot or grass or whatever the heck it is you seem to be on.
