Hyundai’s December 2009 sales soar more than 40 percent versus December 2008!

According to the sales report, issued by Hyundai Motor America -HMA, the Korean largest carmaker has seen its sales soar 40 percent during the month of December. HMA’s total sales for December 2009 stood at 33.797 units as against 24.037 units in December 2008. In calendar year 2009, Hyundai Motor America’s sales grew by 8 percent cumulatively  for a total of 435.064 units.

Hyundai’s best selling model in December 2009 was the Sonata sedan with 10.485 units sold. With sales of 9.264 units, Sonata was closely followed by just recently launched 2010 Santa Fe SUV, which has undergone a mid-cycle facelift for the 2010 model year. 

Hyundai Elantra and sub-compact Accent came in third and fourth with 5.763 and 4.149 units sold, respectively, while Hyundai Genesis concluded the top five best selling Hyundai cars with an all-time record-high monthly sales of 2.354 units. 

With two new launches, scheduled to hit Hyundai dealerships in the first quarter of the year, and numerous other exciting products in the pipeline, Hyundai’s future in the U.S. market looks bright.

We are recognized by the EPA as the most fuel-efficient automobile brand in the U.S. and we will also continue to provide the Hyundai Assurance program throughout the year, so its clear that we’re already off to a great start in 2010″ said Dave Zuchowski, vice president of national sales at Hyundai Motor America.

The all-new 2011 Hyundai Sonata and Tucson crossover are destined to hit the showroom floor in the first quarter of 2010, with the Tucson being first among the two to be shipped to 1.000+ Hyundai US dealer network. According to latest news, some dealers already received their very first Tucson shipemnets and are now waiting to get the first models of Sonata sedans.
