New Hyundai Accent spied in Korea
New Hyundai Accent, scheduled to make its official production debut in late 2010, has been spied in South Korea.
As evident from these latest spy shots that leaked onto the web today, the all-new Hyundai Accent is yet another Hyundai product after new Sonata and Tucson crossover that heralds a new styling direction of the firm.
The forth-coming model incorporates Hyundai’s latest “Fluidic Sculpture” design scheme and mixes the design language of the new Sonata sedan and the up-coming Elantra compact sedan into one neat package, which makes it certainly look more stylish than ever!
Set to go on sale in late 2010, the all-new Hyundai Accent is going to employ a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines. Powertrain line-up remains unconfirmed by the firm, but it is certain to include a 1.6L GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engine with an estimated output of 140 horsepower.
A diesel engine will also be available, however, it is very unlikely to be offered in the US market. There are even rumours that Hyundai has been developing a hybrid-electric version of the all-new Accent, which is set to debut sometime in 2012.
The fully-revamped Hyundai Accent is expected to go on sale late next year, so more details will appear before its proper reveal. Stay tuned!

Its growing on me, though im not a fan of the sedan. The Coupe like shape of it makes it a better looker.
So, I guess GM/Daewoo tests their cars at the same facility? The Rio and Chevy Spark are parked next to the Accent.
Can you guys hurry up with Veloster and 5 door protoypes. I want to see that in dash screen they will offer too, so please get interior pics of all Accent Variants?

Not the Rio the Soul.

It looks much bigger than the Soul. The Current gen is closer to the size of a Soul, but smaller than one.

It is my hope that Hyundai will leave behind the bland and frumpy styling of the current gen Accent sedan and serve-up some style. The current 3-door is great and this appears to be a huge improvement from the exposed greenhouse and exposed body panel creases.

So what happened to the hexagonal grill? Did they give up on it? I was hoping to see that on other products but Since the Tucson I haven’t seen any attempts at it other than on the Veloster concept.

Hmmm not sure about this one. A shrunken YF Sonata? Sonata mini?

Hexagonal Grille=Hatches and Wagons. Remember, the Accent will get 2 hatches.
Its on the Elantra Sedan Prototype, but in 2005 when they were testing the Aceent Protoype they had the hatch grille on the Sedan, which made the sedan look better. Anyway, Hyundai could have done a grille Switch.
I have done some tuning experimentation on Current gen Accents and the Sedan grille looks better on the hatch and the hatch grille looks better on the sedan. Hyundai did things ass backwards.
JG, that’s better than the Accent Sedan we have now.

Accents look best in chrome, My hatch is all chromed up. It stops traffic and makes people (Especially in American cars) come chek it out, and Im lobbying Hyundai right now to at least put a little chrome on the prototypes shown here.
If Hyundai made the Aceent like mines is tuned there wouldnt be a need for a refresh.
There was crowd of trick or treaters around my car. Thats the kind of Accent the company needs to make in order for it to be a good Halo car.

I got asked to shoot for an ad advertising Chrome Grilles for Accents. It should be ready in a week or 2, or even less.
The Accent needs something that makes it look like it comes from a budding Korean Near Luxury up start, besides the fludic design.
It started because a wheel shop had chrome wheels and I couldnt resist the deal. Then I said, the car looks good with chrome wheels but theres something missing. I got Chrome door handles. 90% of what you can find on EBay or at Korean car speciality shops are universal with Accent sedans or hatches. It may say the part fits on the sedan, but it will fit on the hatch too. The car still felt naked with the wheels and the chrome door handles, so I got a Chrome door pillar. I then get some chrome pillar edgers from Auto Zone to make it look full. I also have chrome mirror covers as well.
I also have HIDs and leather.

I think its a general direction that the company should consider to make the Accent fit in better in the near luxury line. Even the Elantra gets a little bit of chrome trimming as standard now, and leather as optional.
Accents look awkward as boy racers, but as small luxury cars they look better. If Hyundai wants the Accent to compete with MINI like they say, its going to have to look the part.
They are really secretive about that interior, they must have something that special under the tarp. They did say dash screen gauges will go in the Accent.

Krafcik, is sweet!!!! I like Ewanick too. It seems like the Company is grooming him to be the next guy after Krafick. Ewanick, is another upmarket Hyundai Cheerleader, more so than Krafcik.
Ewanick would probably be the Youngest Hyundai North America CEO ever.

Hey Frederic, check that out.

Well Hyundaismoke, I really like the style the chrome gives your car specially around the windows and doors, the wheels, over the license plate… Very nice Hyundai ambassador car. Hyundai should offer some chrome as an option. the leather seats are also a nice touch. NICE JOB!
I say it should be an option because its a personal touch/preference. It’s not everybody that likes chrome. Some of the consumers out there are more “low profile” or dont want it that chromed up. For some people cars are still A to B “appliances”… poor them lol
Thanks for the pics

Oh, of course Fredster. We should have chrome and unchromed options. One Trim with Leather or Cloth Leather seats, plus a Leather trim. I know in Europe the i20 has 3 seat trims. Cloth, Cloth/Leather, and Leather. Forte/Elantras get leather for only $1000 extra-on the EX and SX models. We need that in the Accent/Rio.
