New Hyundai car sales rise
New Hyundai car sales rise in the UK market!
Hyundai dealers should be celebrating after beating the company’s best ever annual sales total and selling more cars in a single month than ever before. But they’re not being allowed to relax as another ship full of cars has just arrived and is being rushed out to waiting customers.
The Korean carmaker sold 11,031 cars in September 2009, up from 4,970 in the same month last year. The figure is the best ever single sales month in Hyundai UK’s history, and pushed the company’s total sales in 2009 to 40,578 - passing the previous total annual sales record of 37,611 from 2004.
Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai’s managing director, said: “This result is incredible given that we still have a quarter of the year remaining. Demand for our cars is unrelenting. We could have sold twice as many in September, but we simply ran out of cars and time. There are more ships arriving now, all full of our most popular models, and we are rushing them out to customers as fast as we can!”
As you would expect, Tony Whitehorn has welcomed the extension to the scrappage scheme announced last week. He said: “Thousands of people in the UK recognise that scrappage is a very special offer and have snapped it up. They will now continue to do so well into the new year, and the offer has been opened up to owners of younger cars and vans. With the economy still fragile and the VAT increase on its way, the industry and consumers needed this extra confidence going into the new year.” [Source: Hyundai]

By the way, no Toyota is in the list in top 10 selling cars in China. As China goes, so will the world soon enough. The top 10 selling cars in China are: Chinese Domestic Makes, Hyundai/KIA, VW/Audi, and GM.

In 10 years thats now the US market will look.
Do you guys know that if Hyundai had Honda/Acura’s sales in the US, that would make it the third largest make on Earth?

I doubt Chinese Domestic cars are going to be prominent in the US in 10 years. But I could be wrong.

Some analytics say they will not be competitive in the next 10 years, but after that we should see two or three chinese car companies grow to a world-class carmakers. They will all follow Hyundai footprints.
I bet Chery, Geely and perhaps SIAC or Changan can succeede in he long term. I also predict many of Chinese carmaker will join their forces and merge so they can cut development costs.

Admin, I think that they will come like the Japanese.
1-3 of them will come at first, then all of a sudden 10-20 of them will be here eventually. It depends on if 1-3 of them will be successful.
Remember, China is the world’s largest country. Japan is nothing compared to China, and Korea compared to China is like comparing an Elephant to Ants on an Anthill.
China will repeat the Successes of the Koreans and Japanese, but they will do it in Mega Speed and Mega Size.
China has the capability to have the Big 10 Automakers. China can make 3 Hondas, 3 Toyotas, 3 Nissans easy. Its all up to the Chinese.
Watch, youll see.
The Only Problem is American Sentiment. In the middle American small town I live in they now sell Chinese Beer at the supermarkets here. Hardly Anybody ever buys the Chinese Beer, and people will put notes on the cases telling them to “Send that beer back to China.”

Not Just in America, but I think Chinese cars will be the Great Global Transportation Democratizer. I think China will put everybody in a car. Whether its Socialites in Manhattan or Villagers in Africa.
I do Think about 5-10 smaller but good makes in China will merge and form some kind of a Chinese GM.
China has 137 Car Makes the last time I checked.

Well, of course. That’s the nature of all businesses. Too many competitors in one market leads to smaller ones getting bought out and merged to create larger entities like GM.

BYD Will be a Big time if not the big time player. Mr Buffet will make sure of it.
October 15th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
That’s right, BYD will certainly be one of the most successful China carmakers!

I see a lot of potential in BYD with their futuristic outlook on electric cars.

This is a little off topic, but i thought i would share it.
My Hyundai Entourage has not been starting for a while. The first time it happened, hyundai said oh there’s nothing wrong because they managed to start it, the second which is the most recent, they finally took it in for service. The problem is, they didn’t offer me a rental car. They did not have any loner cars available. What i can’t seem to understand is, why the hell could they not have shelled out the cash to give me a rental. Why the hell should i pay when i am not at fault for the problem the van has. They made the car, they should be responsible for the problems it has. They should have at least offered to pay for the rental. HYUNDAI MAKING GOOD CARS IS ONE THING…CUSTOMER IS SERVICE IS ANOTHER…BOTH THESE THINGS HAVE TO BE ON PAR, OR THERE’S NO POINT. I am absolutely disgusted, with the amount of problems that are popping up with this van. If i experience any more problems that should not happen on a car 2 years old with only 40,000km, I am getting rid of this crap, and taking an odyssey. I had a real strong belief for hyundai their cars, and their quality..but after this…everything’s been shattered. I will not be purchasing another Hyundai, if the customer service does not drastically improve. This is absolute GARBAGE.

Yes Peter, I personally feel ur frustration. I bought a Toyota (Tercel - my first car) for the same reasoning and it was a nightmare; the brakes completely gave out when I was entering an on-ramp if you can believe that. Not the norm so second car was a Corolla and 3 transmission oil leaks. Of course we didn’t get a loaner.. No more Toyota’s for me and this massive brake pedal recall sealed the deal.
It was disk brake warping for the Maxima that required multiple visits (car was less than 1 year old).
Toyota and Nissan still good car companies but I got unlucky on my purchases.. Sticking with BMW, MB and Hyundai.. (and aspiring to the Audi R8 or to-be-released R4)

Peter the Entourage was crap. That’s why Hyundai got rid of it.
Other cars like the Accent are Stellar in reliability. You should wait for the Portico (Sonata Touring). You’ll love it!!!

I am please to read that Hyundai is selling a lot more cars then before! In the past, the Korean engines had a bad reputation… for some reason. Now, in this new economy that we are in, price is a major factor when selecting a vehicle. Hyundai truly has the best bang for the buck! Now that people are purchasing more Hyundai’s due to the great pricing, people are realizing how great of cars they are! Hyundai’s will last you a life time and you will never have problems with them, However they may still occur (rare). Hyundai is becoming ” the new Honda “. When people think of Hyundai they think of a cruddy car, well they are wrong. Due to the recent sales going up, it is proven that Hyundai may be the #1 choice. Hyundai, with the new genesis models and soon to be sonata and veracuz, they will truly show what they are made of. Yay Hyundai!
