Gas-conscious 2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue priced at $14.145
Earlier this year, Hyundai announced it will launch a gas-sipping 2010 Elantra Blue in the US market by the end of the summer. The summer is gone and Hyundai has now released official press release for the 2010 model year Elantra Blue, which starts at $14.145 (excluding shipping).
What is Hyundai Elantra Blue?
Hyundai Elantra Blue is the latest addition to the Elantra line-up. It is an entry level Elantra model that features revised technical components, which improve its fuel economy.
Through relatively simple engineering enhancements, Hyundai engineers improved Elantra’s fuel economy by up to 8 percent in both highway and city ratings. When city driving, Hyundai Elantra Blue, equipped with five-speed manual gearbox, achieves 26 mpg (US), while ratings for highway driving stand at 35 mpg (US).
The 2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue, equipped with automatic transmission achieves 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
To reach these class-leading fuel economy numbers Hyundai Elantra’s engine and transmission received a wide number of technical improvements including a lower friction engine components, engine calibration changes, revised transmission gear ratios, smart alternator management system and shift indicator.
These changes affect only Elantra sedan and don’t apply to the 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring. OF NOTE: Hyundai will soon introduce the 2010 Accent Blue to the US consumers, with similar technical enhancements and improved fuel economy ratings.

The best thing about the 2010 Elantra Blue is that customers do not need to pay any extra money for the fuel-sipping Elantra model. With its entry price of $14.450 (add $720 shipping) the Elantra beats all of its major counterparts including base versions of the 2010 Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Ford Focus and Chevy Cobalt.
Features that come standard on Elantra Blue are keyless entry, power heated mirrors, power locks and windows, split folding rear seatback, six airbags, four-wheel disc breaks, ABS, active front head restraints, tire pressure monitoring system and others.
As every new Hyundai vehicle, the 2010 Elantra is also backed by automotive industry leadingĀ five year/60.000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and ten year or 100.000 mile limited powertrain warranty.
Hyundai Elantra Blue is one of the most affordable cars on the market and with its improved economy ratings, the model is expected to remain as one of the top picks among consumers looking for a C-segment sedan.
The 2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue is the very first Hyundai car that falls under the “Blue” sub-brand which will host specially designed eco-friendly vehicles, enhanced to offer improved fuel economy and lower emissions than their standard equivalents. As mentioned before, Elantra Blue will soon be followed by B-segment Accent Blue and other eco-friendly Hyundai cars.

EB, I hear the Next Gen Elantra which should be out next year will get 42 MPG stock. Without the Blue Option.
September 24th, 2009 at 1:53 am
The Elantra will also get a Hybrid system that will give it Prius Mileage eventually. They are testing the system in European Spec KIA Souls and C’eeds.

In a Box such as the KIA Soul without proper aerodynamics it gets 48 MPG. In a nice sleek Elantra, that is designed in every way for aerodynamics in mind will get Prius Mileage easy.

I can’t believe they’re still not offering ESC, even as an option, on any of the sedans but the SE.

ESC is the law now in America, ESC is as much of the law as seatbelts are. Nothing special about seatbelts, right.
It was Hyundai that did that.
September 24th, 2009 at 9:33 am
ESC will be in the next Elantra as standard.
September 25th, 2009 at 2:15 am
While I’m sure that Hyundai’s leadership in making ESC standard in its higher lines did help lead to the 2012 mandate for ESC in the US, it’s now standard in the Corolla and I can well imagine many of the folks who would be most interested in the highest-mileage version would also be informed and want ESC.
