Hyundai Tucson 2011
Hyundai Tucson 2011 images show the production-ready model completely undisguised.
At the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, Hyundai will officially unveil the all-new 2011 Tucson crossover. Next generation Hyundai Tucson has recently been spotted un-camoed in Australia while on filming for one of the upcoming Hyundai TV Commercials.
That was the first time that we could have seen the 2011 Tucson completely undisguised. Today, we are bringing you a new series of close-up Tucson images, previewing the car from different angles.
For the first time, you can see the rear-end of Tucson and one of the pics also provides a sneak-peak at its interior, which is expected to be far superior -in terms of design and quality- compared to the current model.
New Hyundai Tucson sports Hyundai’s new signature grille that has first been seen on ix-onic concept car. Following the brand’s latest naming technique, the new model is expected to be called the Hyundai Tucson when it goes on sale in Europe, while in the US, the model will retain the Tucson nameplate.
As we reported before, the all-new Hyundai Tucson will be powered by a series of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. It will also be equipped with Hyundais brand-new six-speed automatic transmission.
The all-new Hyundai Tucson is expected to make its official US premiere at the upcoming L.A. auto show in November, while it should go on sale (in the States) early next year, possibly as a 2011 model year.

Ahh, much better than some of the renderings I have seen recently.. I would take this over a Tiguan.
Perhaps not in the same class as the Audi Q5 (price-wise) but wondering how these 2 vehicles would match up on paper? I’ve read good things about the Audi as well..
August 11th, 2009 at 10:47 am
The Q5 is way beyond this (especially on design) but the Tucson is a very respectable vehicle for what it is. It looks very promising. Hopefully it will make an impact in Australia like the i30 did~
August 11th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
SWEET!!! Now can you get some close up pics of the gauge cluster.
August 11th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
Q5 is not even in the same class of SUV as the Tuscon. Q5 is much bigger
August 11th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Q5 is a competitor of Santa Fe, while the upcoming Audi Q3 will be a direct competitor to Hyundai’s new ix35/tucson.
August 11th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
These preliminary close-up images especially the front clearly show the new re-designed Tucson is definitely miles ahead of any vehicle within its class. However, in my opinion,The front bar across the grill suggest a very aggressive character line and may seem a bit off putting, more pics of Tucson at different angles may change that perception though.
Overall the rest of the exterior design looks terrific. I expect the interior to be equal or better than the Honda CRV, the top selling competitor in the U.S.

Looks great! They should change its name in the US though..
August 11th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
Change the name from Tucson to something more sexy.
August 11th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
Why would they change the Tucson name? Hyundai has done very well with the South Western theme for its suvs.
August 11th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
Very cool. I can’t quite tell about the slope on the hatch though. Wondering how angled it is. Tucson name is ok. Maybe we’re just so used to the Tucson looking like a Tucson.
August 11th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
I just think with their current upmarket aspirations, the South Western theme has run its course.
The same way Kia changed Spectra to Forte Hyundai should do the same with Tucson.

Am i the only one noticing the side profile, front and back design looks just like Upscale Veracruz?
August 11th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
I agree with Jason. I think this looks like a baby Veracruz. I love the back. I wonder how high the rear opening is? Outside of the Veracruz, this is the nicest looking SUV Hyundai has put out yet! If this is under $20K I’d buy one.

It Should be called The Hyundai Teton, for the Teton Mountain range.

I wonder if they plan on changing the Accent name. They are comtemplating it for the Elantra. I Also hear tht the Azera will get replaced by Portico, and Sonata. There are some Sonata owners who want Azera-like ammenities, and it’s growing in size, the Next gen is a Whale of a car litterally.
Maybe the Azera was a stop gap car in order to bosst the other cars up.
I wonder if the Accent will move up to C Segment (Its the size of one already), and Hyundai might introduce a new B-Segment car. I wonder if the Elantra will move up to the D Segment. Its the size of a D segment car, it would only be logical to move it up. John Krafick did elude to 1-3 more new cars below Sonata besides the Accent and Elantra.
The Corolla, Civic, Lancer, Sentra, and Golf used to be B-Segment cars like the Accent.
The Accord, Camry, and Gallant used to be C segment cars like the Elantra.
We’ll see.

EB, I know you remember the days fully.
August 12th, 2009 at 1:18 am
In India the i20 is Above the Verna (US Accent) and higher than the last gen Accent, yes they still sell those. I wonder if Hyundai will employ the same strategem here, VW/Audi is entertaining that plan for the US Market as well.
They can sell the Current Gen Accent, and have that below one or two new B Segment cars, and do so many refreshes and tweaks its not funny to it

I pretty like the design it have taked.
Out of topic, admin any news about the Genesis coupe that are now in deposit in the Genova harbour her ein Italy??? Are them finally for our poor Italians and Europeans??
August 12th, 2009 at 6:30 am
Yes H.smoke… I remeber the days… when the big H didn’t even exist and Nissan used to be called Datsun. Speaking of history, Admin., what’s the deal with the history and timeline of the concept cars… you just stopped. Any reason.
August 12th, 2009 at 7:35 am
Thanks to Patrick, Jonathan and admin for the color on comparison vs. Q5.
Again, I would be interested to see how these 2 vehicles compare in terms of total interior volume, 0-60 mph times, braking distances, fuel efficiency, and available options when it is released.
I understand they are not direct competitors but just curious to see how it stacks up against the Q5 - a car I believe to be a class leader..
August 12th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
I tend to agree with EB and Jason that the redesigned Tucson looks like a baby Veracruz. As a matter of fact from the sides and rear the family resemblance is very pronounced.
Now what has given me a really big belly laugh are the comments that I have seen on some other auto forums that it “resembles” the Rogue. After I was able to stop laughing, I reminded the uninformed that of the Tucson’s big brother.
Tucson version 2.0 could be a big hit for Hyundai. Looking forward to higher resolution pics in the upcoming weeks.
August 12th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
phew. so i am not the only one who thinks that this looks like baby Veracruz. Although The Pill, i agree the concept model for Tucson (back design) did looked like Nissan Rogue.
August 13th, 2009 at 3:05 am
Yes Jason, I said that on August 11. I Just hope it’s as nice on the inside as it looks on the outside… I mean FEEL not just looks.
August 13th, 2009 at 7:17 am
The new Tucson is real competition to Audi A5.
August 13th, 2009 at 11:12 am
@anyone who feels this may “look like the Rogue” first of all the Rogue’s design came out two years after the release of the Santa Fe and aped the Santa Fe’s design right down to the rear tail gate.
I reviewed the Rogue at several auto shows and it was apparent that Nissan felt it necessary to rip off Hyundai’s successful design. Now I’m not one to jump all over the so-called copy cat bandwagon but its such a knee slapper when I hear copy cat claims being made about Hyundai copying this other auto manufacturer’s design or that one, when in fact they are creating their own design elements.
People see what they want to see, not reality. So once and for all, there is NO ROGUE design elements in the upcoming redesigned Tucson 2.0, aka, the baby Veracruz. It’s Hyundai, 100% Hyundai. Thank the auto Gods for that!
There that should settle it!
August 13th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
Eb, i think i saw the spyshot interior of Tucson. It’s damn nice.
August 14th, 2009 at 12:11 am
The Pill, also there are people who just want to hate Hyundai/KIA for no appearent reason just expect stereotypes, becuase they want to hold on to the glory days of Chysler, Dodge, Nissan, Acura, Volvo, SAAB, Mercury, Buick, etc…..
People Need to realize that the world changes quickly today, 15 years in the auto world today is like 25 years in the Autoworld just 20 years ago. In that light it will take just 15 years with the right product for people to treat us at Hyundai like Acura or Infinti, and KIA like Mazda or Alfa Romeo.

In 2-5 years the Chinese will be here selling $6500 subcompacts. 15 Years after that they will be where we are today, 10 years after that their cars will be sought after throughout the world for enthusiaist qualities.
August 14th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
Hyundai succeeded very quickly and that is why many hate hyundai, they close their eyes and say any crap to oppose this success. they can’t see how hyundai developed so fast.
Hyundai annoying them and they can’t bear it.
Always for the begining they try to induce that Hyundai is copying others.
In Iran I used to hear these type of antagonism and I can see in other countries you have same problem.
August 14th, 2009 at 7:57 pm
@HyundaiSmoke
I doubt that.
August 15th, 2009 at 4:09 am
I think China can do it John. We must hurry up to provide the best stuff on the planet so we wont lose our cheapo customers from them.
