Hyundai Tucson / ix35; Rendered or Real?
It is not known whether this is the real image or a rendering, but it gives us a very good first glimpse at the next generation Hyundai Tucson / ix35.
From what we can see in this image, the Tucson / ix35 has kept pretty much the same exterior shape as we have seen at ix-onic concept earlier this year. The all-new Hyundai Tucson/ ix35 is currently in the final stages of testing, but Hyundai promises its official public unveiling at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show this September.
The engines available at launch are expected to be a 2.0L diesel – with 184hpbhp and 1.6L gasoline direct injected gasoline engine that pumps out 140+ horsepower. New Tucson will also be available with larger, 2.4L Theta gasoline engine, while gas guzzling V6 will be axed from the engine range.
For the first time, Hyundai Tucson will be equipped with Hyundai’s all-new six-speed automatic gearbox, which will help improve performance and fuel economy. According to latest insider reports, next Tucson will also sport an eco-friendly start-stop technology.
As already mentioned, the production ready Hyundai Tucson / ix35 will make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show with sales following soon after its inaugural launch. The new Tucson will be on sale in South Korea later this year and will reach North American and European markets early next year.
Hyundai Tucson rendering:

That is probably one of the best Hyundai designs (after the Genesis Coupe). I hope this is real Hyundai Tucson, and Sonata delivers the same kind of WOW! factor
August 8th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
i dunno…the center grill is bit too big for my liking. I probably have to see some better pictures.
August 8th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
If this is indeed the new tuscon…hyundai has to do something quick with the santa fe… or its sales will fall miserably. The facelift isn’t enough.
August 8th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
It’s a photoshop. Not real.
August 8th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
Clearly a rendering.
August 8th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
doesn’t look real. if you look at the hyundai badge at the front it looks like someone copied and pasted it. the dark edges look irregular around the badge as if someone used the eraser tool but wasn’t very good at it.

Its real guys, they spotted one uncammo’ed doing some real world street testing and it looks the same as this.
Guys, this is the new signature Hyundai family face that will go on all Hyundai cars in the future, starting with the next generation models. Get used to it or buy something else.
John, the Santa Fe will get replaced in late 2011. I think its ok becuase Hyundai wants people to be focused on the Tucson first. They follow the same strategy with the Elantra and Accent. They put the Accent out first so people can focus on it, then they roll out the Elantra the next year. The Santa Fe came out in very late 2006 (November) its not due for a new model until at least November 2011. The Tuscon came out in very early 2005 (January) It has to get replaced and the sooner the better.
August 8th, 2009 at 11:21 pm
They should modify the 2.4L to be a direct injection. The Forte is equipped with one and only gets 32 MPG. A Tuscon with the same engine will get 30 MPG tops.
August 8th, 2009 at 11:23 pm
You notice how the face is a mixture of the “Klingon” Genesis/New Sonate Grille on the bottom inner portion and the Veloster/Arnejis grille all around.

that is one kick ass tucson…..
so long rav4 and crv

Here ya go john, look at that beauty.
August 9th, 2009 at 2:23 am
Render.
August 9th, 2009 at 2:35 am
HyundaiSmoke thanks for the post… I can’t believe there is (or was) one here in Sydney!
August 9th, 2009 at 3:19 am
That Pic above if rendered, it’s an inside job or rendered by someone who saw the Sydney pic. The grille looks the same as the Syndey pic, the third “Bunny Rabbit” Grille pic. So its safe to say the one in Sydney is real. The pic above might be a rendering, but a damm good rendering if so.
The Grille in Syndey looks smaller porportioned than the one in the pic above, but it could also be the fact that thie Sydney pic is farther back and on the side. The details are the same. Save a copy of both pics to your computer, and you wil see the cam truck fully next to it in the Syndey pic. That pic is too real to be a rendering.
August 9th, 2009 at 3:20 am
The pic above is still a question mark.
August 9th, 2009 at 3:25 am
Pat, The Pic above is a rendering, I magnified it even more. The door handles are the giveaway. The Door Handles are those little silver things in concept form, the other pic from Sydney has your typical Hyundai production door handles.

@HyundaiSmoke
Thanks for the link…
It looks great…has a hint of veracruz in it.
August 9th, 2009 at 6:09 am
Welcome John. Like a baby Veracruz.
August 9th, 2009 at 8:04 am
So how does this “start stop” function work? Is it like Kia Cee’ds “idle stop” technology?
August 9th, 2009 at 10:50 am
Yeah its the same system. Hyundai ISG “Idle Stop and Go.”
August 9th, 2009 at 11:06 am
I see Hints of Veracruz and Infiniti FX. I think the Infiniti FX is the best looking CUV in history up until this. This just takes it up a notch in looks, with that Grille.
August 9th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
The grilles are similar between the above rendering and th Sydney car, but the headlights are a lot different.
August 9th, 2009 at 9:34 pm
Another homerun for hyundai?….this definitely beats out the crv and rav 4
August 10th, 2009 at 1:16 am
Yes, so far from what I’ve seen this looks very promising. Although I will have to wait for more and better images of the new Tucson before jumping on the “home run” bandwagon.
If the interior is as upmarket looking as the exterior shown, then Hyundai is indeed writing itself a new chapter, moving further and further away from its humble “econo” label and redefining itself in the marketplace by deftly moving upstream at a time when both the economy and auto industry are in turmoil.
The timing is perfect for Hyundai, they seem to recognize this unprecedented opportunity to “shift” their brand up, without the added expense of creating a new separate brand channel. Perhaps they will find a way to nest and “kisok” the Genesis luxury brand within the Hyundai umbrella by giving it its own exclusive dedicated sales and support staff. This should cost barely a quarter of the 2 Billion dollars that Hyundai had stated a new brand channel would’ve cost them.
The redesigned Tucson along with the upcoming redesigned Sonata will put the one-two punch to the gut of the weakest U.S. import competitor-Nissan- and then send the two leading Japanese giants, Honda and Toyota reeling on the ropes.
Make no mistake, Hyundai has little for error here, both these launches along with the upcoming automotive press coverage will have to be positive to continue the momentum and drive upstream.
From here it looks like Hyundai is making all the right moves.

thank you HyundaiSmoke for the website .
this is the best photo i saw .
August 10th, 2009 at 4:16 am
you are welcome hyu.
August 10th, 2009 at 4:35 am
You know what The pill. I magnified the interior spy shots, and then compared them to the ix-onic concept video the interior looks like the same as the ix-onic, except that the Tucson will get black leather instead of cream leather, and the car will have soft touch surface all aroung like the ix-onic, but they will use probably some recyled rubbers, and foams.
August 10th, 2009 at 7:21 am
HS, is this the interior shot you’re talking about?

Has anyone seen that yet??? Looks like it’s getting the multiple projector headlamps like the Lexus LS…
August 10th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
The poster on the wall behind, isn´t a facelifted i30?
August 10th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
I’m sure this photo is fake.
August 11th, 2009 at 12:25 am
Go here to see the full car: http://jokeforblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/hyundai-tucson-spy.html
Looks pretty good. I like how they moved the licence plate enclosure from the lower bumper.
August 11th, 2009 at 1:10 am
@Nick
Thanks for the link…finally got a glimpse of the rear end.
But in those pictures, it doesn’t look half as good as the one HyundaiSmoke posted.
August 11th, 2009 at 1:11 am
BTW…the rear has a venza look to it….in the pics nick linked us too.
August 11th, 2009 at 3:06 am
Nick yeah, exactly the Interior Iam talking about.

Speaking about plans, read this:
In 2011, Hyundai will launch a new i40 which is expected to be based on the Genus Concept. Aimed at the Volkswagen Passat and Opel Insignia, the i40 will be offered in both sedan and wagon form with a long list of fuel efficient engines.
Finally, Hyundai’s sexy Veloster Concept will also head for production with a Mini Clubman-like four door arraignment (one on driver’s side, two on the passenger’s side, and one rear hatch). Engine options are expected to include a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 140 hp as well as a slightly larger 2.0-liter with 172 hp

this is a picture of ix-onic concept car of geneva 2009 with a modified front grill (photoshop)
August 25th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
Ok. That design is REAL except the bottom of the grill. The Tucson ix has finally came out to the public in Korea, and it’s BEAUTIFUL! One of the BEST designs I have ever seen in the WORLD! I think it’s even better than Benz and BMW(no offense to anyone though) So, I think it’s a beauty. Visit this site.
