2011 Hyundai Sonata spy shots from Dubai
Barely disguised 2011 Hyundai Sonata caught in Dubai, while parked outside of a spa resort
Hey guys, have you seen the latest series of 2011 Hyundai Sonata spy shots, taken in the sunny and hot Dubai? A loyal Autoblog reader managed to snap a few shots of almost undisgused Sonata prototype, covered only in light vinyl tapings around the lamps in front and rear.
Unlike our previous Sonata spy shots, these are much more revealing. We can finally see the whole front fascia design including a three bar signature grille and fog-lamp design. In addition, there is a striking side character line visible for the first time.
The whole new look of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata feels pretty sporty thanks to the modern four-door coupe like exterior design. But its not only exterior that benefits from vigorous styling updateds. As latest spy pictures prove, the cabin of the 2011 Hyundai Sonta also sports a dnyamic and very modern interior styling.
Check out the official Autoblog website to see more images of the 2011 Sonata prototype.

Looks great!
Oh, and you may have missed this interview with Krafick re: the next-gen Tiburon. http://blogs.edmunds.com/straightline/2009/07/il-exclusive-2012-hyundai-veloster-will-get-140-hp-and-direct-injection.html?mktcat=enabler&AID=10364102&PID=3323800&kw=N&synpartner=edmunds&mktid=cj260233

Looks nice. But I sure wonder about what effect this is going to have on the rear seat. This is a family sedan, afterall, and from the pic on the Autoblog site, headroom doesn’t look generous.

I dont know if im just not thinking straight…but right now…the exterior looks like a meh…its a sedan to me

Looks pretty much in-line with all of the other spy pics we have seen before.. Will look much better with 18″ rims? to fill the wheel wells.. Should be a tight ride..

Thanks for posting the new spy pics and links of the upcoming 2011 Sonata. So far I like what I see and this is going to be one slick looking 4 dr coupe! One thing that I do hope Hyundai incorporates on the Limited model are side mirror turn signals.
The overall look of this car says, sporty, sophisticated and upscale. I also like the look of the re-designed interior. Although this is still a mule I expect the finished product to be much better looking and even more upscale in materials, fit and finish.
The vast majority of comments on Autoblog were very favorable and most of the posters commented on how upscale the new Sonata looks. This is very good news for Hyundai and I believe that the new Sonata is going to be a big hit for Hyundai here in the U.S.!

Micheal, maybe Hyundai is going to kick it up a notch and save on Development costs by Merging the spots the Accent 3 Door and the Tiburon hold? The Rumors I hear say they will. And a 3 Door Accent with that much spice will Boost the Accent’s image overnight.
Remember Accent will get replaced for the 2011 model year, and usually they drop the 3 Door Model the Next year. Seems suspiciously in line with the timeline, dont you think? Krafick did say in this Interview that SE espcially in the Accent will be the “Name Branding” for Front wheel drive perfomance and Direct Injection Turbos. Like the way Touring will be for 5 door hatches i.e; Accent Touring, Elantra Touring, Sonata Touring, and Genesis will= Rear Wheel Drive Preformance Oriented cars.

By the way guys, I cant wait until the Sonata Debut coming very soon.

Hyundai/KIA needs to hurry up with the Sonata and Optima Hybrids to compete with the Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan/Lincoln MKZ Hybrids.

Michael, I saw that article too and I just have to say that Hyundai is really on a huge roll right now. Although I won’t be in the market for a small coupe/hatch, I am quite excited about the prospect of a CRX type vehicle. There is definitely lots of potential for a vehicle such as this. I personally was able to see the Veloster at the Sydney International Motor Show a few years back and it surprised me as to how much of a crowd it drew even though it wasn’t clearly visible from outside the Hyundai area. It was a beautiful concept and I can’t wait till they show us that little “surprise”. It sounds to me like Hyundai wants to create a mix between a VW Scirocco and a Mini Cooper but with a little twist…
On another note, I really hope a forced induction version is also realized. 140hp is great from a 1.6L which places it alongside a Mini Cooper but a turbo would be a great Cooper S competitor (if they turn out to be in the same category, that is). Nonetheless exciting times are ahead.

It’s a beat up dirty test mule with small wheels- of course it’s not going to look amazing. Wait until you see the final product.

New İ-40 will come this year Korean Market, after USa Europe market. İts nice and good sales all Hyundai Dealers…

Actually, as more detail becomes visible the more the new sonata looks like an Elantra on steroids.
July 14th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Whats wrong with looking like the Consumer Reports best choice for a sedan on Steroids?
July 15th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
There has been lots of confusion as to whether the all new Sonata (YF) will be 2010 or 2011 lately. It seems that it will definitely be a 2011 because the 2010 is now on sale in Canada.
July 17th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Smoke - Probably nothing wrong with steriods and style. I’ve just been following all the hype and wonder what it’s really going to look like. My wife just got a 2009, and likes it better than the maxima (1999)she traded in. It really is a better car, and I’m just hoping that change for the sake of change doesn’t make the sonata too much like the altima, accord, or camry with over styled edges and cramped interiors.

buzzg07,
For the US and Canada, the ‘10 Sonata will indeed be the current NFA. For Korea, it’ll be the new YF. I’m thinking Hyundai may have decided to have a really short ‘10 model year to make sure there were ‘10 MY vehicles to sell during the US’s Cash for Clunkers, aka CARS, program. From everything I’ve heard so far the YF will be on sale in the US by Feb of ‘10 as an ‘11 model.

Yeah the Maximas and the Altimas are real Lemons arent they? Dennis, remember Hyundai wants to go for a Chrysler like Luxury appearance in the US. They wouldnt dare do crampness, nor be bland. Expect to pay $2000 more for the Sonata than the Camry or Accord though. However it will be worth it if you compare it to the more expensive Chrysler Sebring in which the styling sucks and is cramped inside.
Do you know that one of the most tarded in cars for Hyundais in America are Chryslers? A Bitter sweet irony as Hyundai and Chrysler used to borrow each others parts back in the day.

Yep Derrick, I beleive you are correct about that assessment.
