The 2010 Genesis Sedan Named “Best New Model”
The 2010 Genesis sedan, Hyundais flagship in the US market, has been named the “Best New Model” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. The editors of a renowned US magazine selected best new vehicles in 11 categories and the put the Hyundai Genesis sedan on top of the the ”$30.000 – $45.000 sedan” category ahead of the Nissan Maxima, Audi A4 and Acura TL.
“Picking this car as a standout was easy. As the first true luxury car from Hyundai, the Genesis earns its name. The exterior may remind you of other luxemobiles, but its simple lines, sleek interior and Euro driving dynamics will impress all but the most hard-core snobs.” said Mark Solheim, automotive editor, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.
“The $33.000 Genesis sedan, which is available on the US market with a choice of 3.8L V6 or the award winning 4.6 V8 Tau engine is the perfect blend of luxury, technology, and advanced safety features. Being named a Best New Model by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance is a testament to its combination of exhilarating performance, sophisticated design and tremendous overall value.

Wow, this has seriously been an amazing year for Hyundai.
Incidentally, little wonder Hyundai stock (005380.KS) has climbed this year and is one of the best auto stocks year to date (2nd behind Ford). From the end of Feb to the end of April, shares have risen ~50% on the Korea Stock Exchange.
Even though profits are significantly down from last year, they are still making millions in profits. Hyundai Motor definitely on the right track.

In many ways I feel fortunate to have served in the US Army and that during that career I lived for almost twelve years in the Republic of Korea. I first arrived to the ROK in 1970, when President Pak Chung Hee was elected and the economic structure and planning that has brought the entire ROK prosperity and the name for producing excellent quality and value packed products across the entire commercial spectrum. For instance, since 2002, Koreans have had 125 channels of live TV on their telephones; by 2006 they could point their telephone at a vending machine and get the desired product, charging it to the phone. So their logarithmic and lately, meteoric rise the highest levels of quality Automobiles is by now surprise. One thing that we noticed while living in the ROK, in 2005, the New Sante Fe models were being sold in ROK; and they used that datum to improve and tweak it for it’s American release last year. How many out there are aware that ALL KOREAN CARS are under the direction, guidance and financial management of the HYUNDAI Corporation. ALL, PERIOD, ALL. Additionally, are you aware that an Optima is to a Sonata as a Taurus is to a Sable. Different fenders and front and rear clips, but notice even in these pairs the doors and side windows are the same and the interiors are the same components, arranged differently in the center stack. Mechanically they are twins, so all the good things of Sonata’s are also in the Optima. I voted with my pocket book and bought a Optima LX. a very good car, which I chose over the Hyundai on Looks primarily; the previous iteration had an exceptionally good “Lexus” look to it, the earlier model styling of the smaller Lexus IS Series. And in true quality, the Hyundai are as good if not better.
Bottom Line; well they are now made in Alabama. I have noticed a most curious shift in perceptions and conditions. Once, when I was a lad in the 60’s, there were American Cars and Foreign Cars; Renaults, Borgwards, Alfa-Romeo GTVs, et al. But today, since Camry’s are made in America, Honda’s in Marysville, Mercedes-Benz in Vance, Alabama, that my own grandchildren consider DATSUNs, excuse me, NISSANs, Civics and the rest as American a car as we deemed the Big Three in our youth. Another factor of market share, get a young person into your Marque as soon as possible; I believe Lee Iococa said something similar, and when they gain more earning they will follow William Crapo’s dream of coming in with a Chevy, and dying driving a Caddy, with Pontiacs, Buicks, and Olds in between. What I’m saying is that Hyundai is poised to produce a multitude of very good cars that will sell very well in America, and unless the Native American car Chiefs get with it, they will never recover to their once lofty, and very profitable, status. The Koreans are building the Genisis, perhaps on the Great CARs of our time; at a discount and that will give them the market share to finish off dang near all the rest as being in the total lead. They will surpass even Toyota within the coming near future. Too many good cars being produced. Oh, did I mention that at this moment, you can get a Sonata or Optima LX for less than $15,000? You buy a really inexpensive car that has the best warranty in the World, and it is a good car and you like it, then you will probably head over to look at Hyundai’s latest and greatest automotive efforts rather than to a Native American dealer. HELLO Market Share and future sales.
