Spy shots: 2010 Hyundai Sonata pre-production interior
Spied: 2010 Hyundai Sonata interior
It was yesterday when we have seen some quality spy shots of the 2010 Hyundai Sonata. Those images partly revealed the exterior of the next generation Sonata coupe-sedan. Since the Sonata’s exterior has been shot extensively by spy photographers, the interior has been kept under wraps and it remained much more elusive.
Here we see the first quality spy shot that gives us a sneak peak preview at the next Sonata interior. The overall styling looks clean and trendy and it seems like it features brand’s new design language that has been implemented to the latest Hyundai offerings.
The center stack onsole has a similar design as the one in the Genesis Coupe. There is a digital clock a top the center stack, while below you can see the (missing) audio and climate controls. The dashboard is expected to feature two separated rounded gauges for speedometer the tachometer.
Scheduled to hit Korean Hyundai dealers in autumn of this year, the 2010 Sonata is intended to do the battle with serious competitors such as Honda Accord, VW Passat and the upcoming Opel Insighnia.
UPDATE: Full size 2010 Sonata interior shot; Note: This is a pre-production Sonata prototype, therefore materials and plastics used inside look cheap. When Sonata goes on sale interior will be updated by higher grade and more quality materials!

The control of AC in the form of figure evoke in me Volvo´s dashboards.

I don’t like this sonata interior as much as the one shown yesterday

it looks amazing. very classy.

WOW! Looks sweet. Personally hope the blue interior lights they have been using is more white/blue so it is easier on the eyes but we’ll see. Will be a success.

April 24th, 2009 at 12:04 am
honestly cant wait for the new Santa Fe 2010. its gonna be SICK ..
April 24th, 2009 at 12:07 am
I agree with John. Maybe the interior from yesterday was the new Tuscon? The shape reminds me of the Equus dash though. And yes, Homer, that AC system is very Volvo.. no car company is sacred! HeHe. This is nice though. Can’t wait to see it.

Also..hyundai has a new steering wheel?
April 24th, 2009 at 2:12 am
The Interior is camo’ed also guys. Every concept as of late Ive seen from Hyundai, has always had a heavilly camo’ed steering wheel, or the sterring wheel in the spy shot is not the one going on the production model.
Anyway, great work. I cant wait to see spy shots of the remaining 3 cars in Hyundais 24/7 2.0 project: Accent, Azera, and Veloster.
April 24th, 2009 at 2:15 am
Veloster Spy Shots should be coming soon, since that will be hitting dealerships in October along with this Sonata. This Sonata will make its World Debut at an Auto Show Next month.
April 24th, 2009 at 2:20 am
As you can see as well guys, the metalic shift lever is camo’ed in black covering as well. Alos, the Vents will come in wood and metalic grain, so those are camo’ed also.

John the one we saw before had factory navigation with an Infiniti-style (DIS variant?)control knob. Both look great so far but admin, I don’t see much similarity with the Genesis Coupe’s interior!!! This looks more luxurious and quality-focused than the GC’s interior.

ANnddd they killed it with the cheap looking digital clock…Hyundai should find a way to intergrate an analog clock to give it a classier look.
April 24th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Yes, it’s an all new steering wheel design. very cool looking too,,
April 24th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
Patrick…yea the other does have a very ifiniti like look to it…
April 25th, 2009 at 5:09 am
Lmao!!! Analog Clocks are for Chyryslers, Lmao!!!!
April 25th, 2009 at 5:30 am
Awesome new spy pics of the Sonata and this time they are good quality for once and some good side views too! The proportions look great (which was one of my main concerns) and that chrome strip along the side is an interesting touch!

@ Rob,
Sure, I can see your point about analog clocks looking classy in some vehicles but I’ll have to disagree with you on it for the Sonata. Perhaps on the Equus but on a mass market bread-and-butter car, would go for the digital clock for cost savings and since it is not a deal breaker for most. A nice touch? Yes. Absolutely necessary? Probably not.

Judging by the spy shots…i like the current interior better

The soon to be released 2010 Hyundai is going to be the car that grabs more market share from not only the U.S. Domestics but will also “slice” into the market share of some leading rivals like Nissan, Honda and yes, even Toyota.
Experts from Consumers Reports, Edmunds and Cars.com as well as many other leading auto publications have acknowledged the high quality and reliability of the current Sonata. Although most agree that it’s exterior design leaves most lukewarm.
Based on the spy photos of the upcoming 2010 Sonata’s elegant exterior and interior, it’s clear to see that its design is aimed squarely at trumping not only Toyota/Honda, but establishing leading competitive advantages over these rivals.
If the 2010 Sonata delivers on expectations over and above, then the car will be a huge success! It seems that Hyundai’s timing is right, and the market is right, even if the economy blows right now.
I do believe this is the right time for an up and coming car manufacturer, like Hyundai, to bring their “A” game. Game on!
April 26th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
Examining closely, there are two stripes that run above and below the A/C vents. At first glance, they don’t seem to be significant. However, I am hoping that they are LED lit for ambient lighting, just like the interior of the new Lacrosse. If it were true, this interior will be totally awesome!

@ The Pill:
Very nicely stated and well summed up..
April 27th, 2009 at 4:05 am
Trent maybe, they do it in the concept cars. I wonder if they might have an aftermarket kit, or make this an actual option. 2 tinted pieces with ambient blue led lights implanted in the material.
April 27th, 2009 at 4:07 am
Damm I cant wait to see how this interior lights up.
April 27th, 2009 at 6:50 am
@ Trent, Smoke:
How awesome would it be if those lines continued down along the 2 sides of the centre stack (along the silver lines) and into the cupholder/armrest area. that would be SICK

@ buzzg07, Trent, Smoke:
I agree, that would be nice. As far as minonr details are concerned, the cupholders should have the same metal trim that is shown in slots of the gear shift mechanism…And that should also be carried over to the outline of the dash mounted vents closest to the doors, the outline of the door handles and the outline of the speaker covers (maybe). The details blend too much. Other than the center stack… thsi does not say 2010+ car. It’s still a an early 2000+ look and feel. ….As far is I’m concerened. Maybe they shoul look at an entirely new inlay as abosed to wood, carbon fiber or straight metal… Maybe if they want be “green” in their hybrid cars they could introduce inlaid leaves or tiny pebbles in the dash and backlight them like some counters do in the dash areas.
Like the Iwill concept, they could add a see-through solar panel as a unroof to power the windows and Heater and AC after the engine is turned off if you are waiting for someone shopping… ok, I think I’m getting carried away now.
April 28th, 2009 at 8:36 am
They still might do that buzzg. You never know, especially with that black tape on most of the chrome and silver finish points.
April 28th, 2009 at 8:44 am
EB, look at the Genesis Coupe interior. That will be how all the Hyundai familly will get garnished soon enough. The pictures by the way, do not do that BlueWill concept justice. The BlueWill pics are ugly. The BlueWill Videos are beautiful, and would do well against the Cadillac Coverj’s, and Sebring Hyrbids of the world.
