New York auto show: Hyundai releases Nuvis (HCD-11) teaser image
Hyundai has released a teaser image of its secret concept car named Nuvis. The crossover concept with a HCD-11 project name, has been penned at Hyundais California Design center in Irvine and is already the 11th concept vehicle designed by the studio.
The HCD-11 concept follows the plain and ugly (sorry Hyundai) HCD-10 Helion, which made its premiere at the 2006 Los Angeles auto show and was designed by Joel Piaskowski, who left Hyundai Motors America and joined Mercedes Benz a few months ago.
At this point it is not known whether this is a design exercise only or a concept that previews some near-future production vehicle, but it certainly showcases the brands cutting-edge capabilities and hints at a possible design direction for a future-generation Hyundai vehicles.
A gull-winged concept has been first spotted yesterday by one of the Autoblog readers who has managed to take some less than perfect spy shots. What we have seen yesterday and we do not today are a pair of huge gull-wing doors replacing the regular front-rear door set-up.
A closer inspection also reveals a small Blue Drive logo positioned right behind the front wheel, indicating the latest Hyundai concept might be eco-friendly and will likely be powered by advanced, in-house developed, electric-hybrid drive system.
Hyundai plans to officially unveil its latest concept at the upcoming New York International Auto Show next week. If not earlier, then we will get the official Hyundai Nuvis (HCD-11) press release, images and more detailed information at that time.
UPDATE: Roadandtrack has published some additional images of the Hyundai NUVIs concept. check them out at the link above!

Dang, this is HOT! Kind of wierd/cool seeing it on the street so makes the pictures even more interesting.
If it were to enter the market, could really shake up the crossover and would could one-up Toyota’s Venza with those trick doors.
The only suggestion I would make is to perhaps enlarge the rear window for better visibility out the back but an impressive effort here. Hyundai simply continues to amaze me daily..

Well, they are planning on a crossover based upon the Sonata. I unlike most people like this thing. It is the kind of fresh energy Hyundai needs. Hyundai may be the worlds 5th largest Automaker, but it is only the 9th largest in the US. And Hyundai is more reliable than most of the brands on that list, yet our cars arent as popular. We need to have every car a popular car, to finally get the monkey off of our backs.

Imaging pulling up the the golf couse in this bad boy? People would be like ‘What the F?’ This is a slick ride and the first ‘Mainstream’ company to come up with gull wing doors for the masses?
Whatever, it is still thinking outside of the box and I respect that..

This car is perfect for Hyundais new image here in America. Premium Modernity, high fuel efficency, smart design.
As a Matter of Fact, Hyundai should put an emblem on the back of their cars that says Premium Modernity. Since “Hyundai” means Modernity in Korean. Kind of like how Audi did in the 80s by putting that “SoundDesign” emblem on the back of their cars for image and marketing.

We then should Saturate the Rally Circuit with Accents. Elantras, and Tiburons. Have: Sonatas, Elantra Toruings, This Gullwing (HCD-11 Consept)which will be the Sonata Touring, Azera, and Genesis Sedans in the Touring car series. Put Genesis Coupes in every race series they possiby can.

The premiums series in all segments. The same kind of Series that Lexuses, Minis, Peugeots, and Citroens are in.

KIA can do the non-premium series racing. Could you imagine a KIA NASCAR racer? Wow!!!
