Hyundai Genesis Coupe early sales report: selling like a hot cake!
Hyundai Genesis Coupe sales
The 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe has been one of the most anticipated cars that hit the US ground lately. With its attractive powertrain options and an array of performance features, the model was expected to be in great demand and early sales report from Hyundai certainly confirms that.
The two-door Genesis Coupe has been selling extremely well since its market launch about two weeks ago. Traditionally, two-door coupes sell in much lower numbers than their four-door siblings, but according to John Krafick – CEO of Hyundai Motor America, the Genesis Coupe has managed to outsell its four door sibling model (Genesis sedan).
In a recent interview, published in the latest issue of the popular Motor Trend Magazine, John Krafcik reveals early sales of Genesis Coupe has been “simply smoking”. Furthermore and unexpectedly, its sales have been hooter than that of the four-door sedan despite the fact that Hyundai spent less money for its advertising!
Hyundai Genesis Coupe comes available with two powertrain options, but at the moment only 3.8L V6 variant is available at the dealers, while the 2.0L turbo has still been making its way into Hyundai showrooms. Once enough 2.0L turbo models make their way into the showrooms, Hyundai shold be seeing even more customers with sales volumes picking up. [Source: Motor Trend]

Well, this kind of sales are what u get when u trow a nice looking car in a market with more SUV’s and crossovers then coupes, and in a market where Honda/Acura cancels RWD sporty models but it’s making a Crossover-Coupe, X6 fighter.
Join the anti SUV campaign.

Mark81, there will be 1000 Genesis Coupes head over to Europe.
Unfortunately, it will only be the 2.0T version as the 3.8L is too much money (displacement tax, emission tax and others as I’m sure you know much more about )

Hyundai said they wont be making any money selling the Genesis Coupe is Europe. The only reason why they are doing it is to help the brand image.

It just makes sense that this car would out sell the Genesis Sedan. This car is over $10,000 cheeper, its not toated as a luxury car, the audience is younger and it gets better gas mileage + for the more practical set, this car is far less pretentious and much sportier. When the 4 cyl. comes out in the summer… I can imagine the college grads getting their hands on these cars… out selling even the Accord or Camry during this time!

EB,
One Western NC dealer already has a 4. I’d imagine most western U.S. dealers already have a good supply.

Solid numbers expected but hardly surprising. Previous comments on why it is outselling the Genesis sedan are spot on as price, demographic and fuel efficiency naturally play into stronger sales.
I am hoping to go with a 2.0T personally with the sport pack in black in a few years time.. Hyundai seems to be picking up their gamve over the past few years.. Finally arriving!

The new Coupe is sexy, super fast and just superb. The best deal out there today for those of us who want to drive a sport car and not go broke.

I’ve only seen one Genesis Coupe on the road in all of 2009 and it had a dealer plate. I test drive the turbo and the v6. I like it but haven’t bought one yet.
