Hyundai i10 celebrates 300.000 sales milestone
Popular Hyundai i10 mini-car celebrates 300.000 sales milestone…
Hyundai Motor India has today revealed it is celebrating the 300.000 sales mark achieved by its popular i10 model less than 2 years after its official market launch. The i10 has gone on sale in December 2007 after it made an official premiere at Bologna Motor Show (Italy) in the same year.
Out of 300.000 sold i10s, more than 156.000 units have been exported, while the rest (144.000 units) have been sold in the domestic market. The i10 has been exported to over 100 countries across the world, including Latin America, Middle East and South East Asia. So far this year, Hyundai has already sold 46.256 i10 units, meaning the i10 is continuing to perform very well at both domestic and international markets.
The i10 has been particularly successful in Germany where it has topped the best selling small car chart for the last few months, surpassing the previous leader Smart microcar.
Arvind Saxena, a Sr VP Marketing & Sales at Hyundai Motor India said “Hyundai Motor India Ltd has constantly focused on providing the best for its customers be it design, technology or the best value for money proposition. And the resounding success of the i10 just proves that our customers value these parameters as well and have reinforced our belief that, if we provide the best, we will always be on the fore front be it the domestic or the overseas market.”
“The i10 which meets the stringent safety and emission norms even in the European market has become an undoubted segment leader in both the domestic and overseas market and I sincerely thank our customers in India and in over 100 countries across the world for choosing to drive Hyundai i10.” added Arvind Saxena.
The customers and the automotive media were both equally impressed by the i10 when it was launched and the media which backed its belief by conferring upon the i10 all the “Car of the Year 2008″ awards making it the first car to win all the Car of the Year awards including the coveted “Indian Car of the Year” (ICOTY) from a jury comprising of the most respected automotive journalist in India.

Hyundai may be doing well in the market… But I would like to advice the prospective customers to read this before considering Hyundai i10 as an option.
Let me tell u what happened to me on Oct 2nd 2009. Exactly 10 months after I bought my new Hyundai i10. I was trying to start my car by 4 30 PM in the evening. The car dint start, so I tried again twice. Hearing this my wife came and asked whtz the problem. I told I dont know and tried again for 2 times. Suddenly my wife gave a big cry and told fire. I peeped through the window and say the left side of my car burning. I jumped out of the car and within 10 sec the battery exploded. It was a big fire and fire force came to settle it down. I called Police and prepared Forencis Report also. Then Hyundai people came to take the car, I told them very clearly that I am not there for any settlement other than a new car. They took the car and gave me a report back stating that the whole incident was caused by a rat. A rat had bitten the tube and petrol came out(This is the reason they say for the fire). And they clearly say that rat is an external device so we cant take the responsibility. You should understand the person who had spend his money for buying the car and his mental situation. I wish to show the pic of my car in this blog. But there is no option for that. This similar incident happend for Hyundai previously also. You can see that here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-term-ownership-reviews/60788-hyundai-i10-catches-fire-during-ignition.html. Whatever happens to the car Hyundai is not responsible, rat is responsible. I asked Hyundai to give that in a letter pad. He said he want to discuss with his team before giving it in writing.I just received a mail from Hyundai. I am pasting it here Dear Mr. Midhun,

What is the exact model of your car?
It seems like the warranty is invalid due to external forces causing the damage. In principle, Hyundai are right as this is a problem for your insurance company.
I have ordered the “i10 1.2 comfort” model in the UK and I am concerned with your experience.
Let me know more details of your car and what it costs in India.

talhan

I bought an i10 on 18-September, by early November car wouldn’t start - it had terminal engine failure due to a bolt falling out of the engine !!! Hyundai said they’d replace the engine under the warranty. I’ve rejected the car - I don’t trust it, what else will fall off while I’m driving - I consider it dangerous and that it was not checked properly. Hyundai have said they do not accept my rejection of the car and they will continue to replace the engine. I can’t accept that, I’m far too scared to ever drive that car. I’ve asked for a replacement or I want my money back. I’m so sorry I didn’t buy a Toyota Aygo.

Dear Mr Koo,
I purchased i10 in may 2009. Scheme was published in the news papers that buy back offer is being given if old car sold Registration is shown and Rs 10,000/- will be refunded. I deposited the requisite papers to ultimate Automobiles Ltd, Panchkula well in time. After 4 months, Dealer told me that your papers are not valid because these are on white paper (which have been given by RTO). AND your claim is rejected by the Company
I dont know whether Company like hyundai can behave in this manner with its customers as the papers given are valid and can be checked (from the Panchkula RTO, any time)but just refraining refund.
Mr. Koo, this is my 5th car and earlier 4 were from Maruti and it’s my hard experience to deal with this company. I have also discussed the matter with New Delhi office (Mr Deepak & Mr Ahmad and Regional office Mr Paramjit Singh) but of no avail
I hope Mr Koo, that action will be definetely taken if my comments will reach to you other wise Consumer Court will decide the refund alongwith legal expenses, mental harassment and interests
