Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan and midsize Hyundai Sonata sedan have both been selected as “America’s Top 40 New Cars” by renowned Motor Trend magazine.

In addition to that, the “not-yet-on-sale” Genesis Coupe has made it to the “Five Worth Waiting For” list of this years highly anticipated (car) arrivals. The list included a legendary Chevrolet Camaro and an eco-friendly Toyota Prius.

Experienced Motor Trend editors evaluated more than 240 cars currently on sale on the market to help readers identify the best 40 cars to buy in a variety of categories. The 2009 Genesis (4.6L V8 Tau) was selected a top new pick in the premium sedan category, while mid-sized Sonata sedan was named a “standout among standouts” in the family car category.

Let us see what the editors have said about the 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 V8:

Few believed Hyundai could pull off the same trick Lexus did 20 years ago by creating a world-class luxury sedan, much less being able to sell it for a lot less than the standard bearers from Germany. Yeah, well, guess what. The Genesis is a player and fits neatly in between most mid- and full-size offerings.

“To have two Hyundai models make Motor Trends list of cars to buy this year validates our hard work to create vehicles that can compete with the best-of-the-best in the auto industry.” said Scott Margason, director of Product & Strategic Planning at Hyundai Motor America.

This is yet another prestigious Genesis award that Hyundai received in the last six months. By now, Genesis has won three Car of the year titles and just recently, it was recognized as a Top Safety Pick by IIHS. The latest Motor Trend award certainly prowes the Genesis to be a great package, offering levels of performance, design and comfort for a price much less than Mercedes, BMW and Lexus.

Genesis sedan has been very well recognized by press and media and has seen many rave reviews so far, but more importantly, the vehicle has also been accepted by the customers. Last month, more than 1.200 units were sold, a number that makes Genesis sedan one of the best selling luxury cars in the States.
