The 2009 Hyundai Genesis did just that. It earned a “good” (the highest ranking awarded by the Institute) overall evaluation in front, side impact, frontal offset and rear crash tests.
“Hyundai is committed to standardizing the most effective life-saving technologies and Genesis sedan is no exception,” said Michael Deitz, product planning manager for the Hyundai Genesis sedan” told Michael Deitz, product planning manager for the Hyundai Genesis sedan.
“From the debut of Hyundais first electronic active head restraint system which helps prevent whiplash, to standard Electronic Stability Control, the most effective new safety technology since the seatbelt, Genesis was designed with safety in mind.” added Michael.
The TOP SAFETY PICK status is applicable for all 2009 Genesis models built after November 2008.

I truly believe that the only reason… outside of the economy… that more people are not buying this car is because many people believe that the same car company that once produced the 4door Excel can’t possibly be producing an award winning large sedan. Then I say, remember the Toyota Corona? They think the same company that produced the Scoupe must be paying these judges… then I say remember Datsun… now Nissan/ Infiniti? People truly can’t believe a car company can change and improve… and I say remember the 2 door ’76 honda Civic. Or the ’78 Accord 2speed automatic hatchback? I once owned one. Well my theory is, if a car company can still be around after 20+ years, eventually they will do things to get noticed. Or they will go the way of Oldsmobile, Eagle, AMC and others. Move over… the silent underdog now speaks… and so far, the critics are listening! ….Unfortunately for others in the industry, there impressed too! Kudos Hyundai!
