Hyundai’s latest concept car, the ix-onic crossover makes its debut ahead of Geneva auto show.

Say hello to the Hyundai ix-onic concept car! The ix-onic is the latest concept car from Hyundai Motor Company and previews the next generation Tucson crossover. It has been set to make an official public unveiling at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, which kicks off on March 3rd.

The concept car looks very close to the car we have seen on the teaser image that Hyundai released last week. The concept features a distinctive design marked with aggressive character lines that flow all over the body. The lower part of the front fascia sports a huge air-intake and fog lights incorporating LED technology.

Under the hood, the ix-onic concept features a direct injection 1.6L turbo engine, developing 175 hp and generating only 149 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The five-seater show car measures 4.4 meters long by 1.85 m wide by 1.65 m high and offers seating for five adults.

Slightly different version of the ix-onic concept will soon find its way into production. The production ready model will replace the ageing Tucson crossover, which has been on sale since 2005. The second generation Tucson is rumoured to make an official world debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.
