The 2010 Hyundai Equus - VI: First official images leak to the web
First official images of the 2010 Hyundai Equus luxury sedan surface to the web.
Yesterday was a big and important day for the Hyundai Motor Company. The largest Korean car company has hosted an exclusive media event at its Namyang research and development center in South Korea, where it has unveiled its next generation flagship model, the 2010 Hyundai Equus sedan!
The all-new Hyundai Equus luxury sedan has been presented to more than 80 domestic journalists just two weeks ahead of its Korean debut, scheduled for March 3. Hyundai also used the event to pitch the 2010 Equus sedan against famous Mercedes-Benz S-class and Lexus LS sedan, both of them recognized as Equus’ main rivals.
To prove how serious the company is in gaining a foothold in the luxury car market, Hyundai allowed automobile writers to get behind the wheel of 2010 Equus sedan, test-drive it and compare it side-by-side with afore-mentioned luxury nameplates.
During the test-drive event, Hyundai Motor Company also released an exclusive “teaser” image showcasing the new classy Equus sedan parked along side Lexus LS and S-Class from M-B. This was for the first time that the company has showed the Equus to the wider public after it has released a pair of teaser image back in June last year (Equus teaser 1) and in the beginning of this year (Hyundai Equus teaser 2).
In addition to the first official Equus image, we have seen a few more exclusive images leaking to the web earlier today! Check them out after the jump!
The 2010 Hyundai Equus has been spied quite oftenly lately and most recently, spies have manged to take a picture of a barely disguised Equus model covered only with white tapping at front and rear car fascias. The image was most probably taken during the test-drive event yesterday. (The spy image below)
As we told you, the 2010 Hyundai Equus sedan will feature a plethora of high-tech goodies implemented to the Hyundai vehicle for the first time and will, initially be available with a 3.8L V6 and 4.6L V8 engines with horsepower output ratings ranging from 290hp to 366hp. Both engines will be mated to the six-speed automatic transmission.
The all-new Equus sedan has been equipped with some top-notch amenities and safety features with many of them applied in Korean car for the first time. Among the safety features, you can find a lane departure warning system, pre-crash seatbelts (PSB) and VSM2, which oversees data communication between individual electronic components located at different parts of chassis, Parking Guidance System (PGS) and Advanced Front Lighting System (AFLS) with incorporated LED technology.
The 2010 Hyundai Equus sedan will make its world premiere on March 3., but we are expecting more images to leak prior its official debut, so stay tuned for more exciting news to come in the next few hours/days!

I personally like it. It looks substantial. I would have like the rims to be a more agressive do. Although, I must say I don’t like the emblem on the hood. I would like the grilled without it.

Hmm.. not bad but the artist renderings set the bar too high - too watered down in my opinion.. It should still be nice however..

I think I like the vertical grille a tad more than the horizontal one. Not a huge fan of the rear, but overall looks its part.

Hyundai is great..this and the genesis are really good looking…now all they have to do is make the veracruz just as good

Looks Very Luxurious, I think it looks better than the Benz or the Lexus over all, and with the amount of technology its packing and since it carry’s over the same genesis V8 and V6 engines it makes it a very powerful and reliable car for the luxury car buyers. If this car ever came to america i would be all over it.

Bruno Sacco already retired from Mercedes Benz! From his vast experience and expertise can Hyundai board of directors ask him to give input for the future of Hyundai luxury brand growth. Pay him 10 million and you will get 1 bilion dollar investment back plus the heritage of continuity and image impact. YOU SEE YOU ACT! Car tail lights (LED technology)and front grille should be amongst our top priority.Strategic alliance with Magneti Marelli would help.

Hollywood movies have a big impact audience around the world!Just asking for California studios to use Hyundai brand to promote global awareness. Put Hyundai brands in action movies or whatever movies they make just like Audi and Aston Martin doing for the James Bond.

looks great, the triangle on the grille is the camera for the parking self guidance. if you remember a while back the early rederings of the genesis had the same thing because in china and korea you could get rear and FRONT parking cameras. if they were to put the logo on the grille they could hide the camera in it much like lexus and infiniti

Equus.. hmm well~~~Too old style…It looks Too heavy compare to the price. That is nothing to be surprised. perhaps some Korean pelple will like it. I can’t see what is different between many other new cars.

when they bring the Hyundai Equus to America THEY BETTER MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THE SKETCH DRAWING, OTHERWISE IT WOULDN’T BE HALF AS COOL.
