Hyundai Sonata/i40 body-shell caught on camera
The body-shell of the all-new 2010 Hyundai Sonata spied an put on the world-wide-web.
Along with exciting news on Hyundai Equus sedan and first leaked pictures, we are bringing you another major Hyundai news/image. What we have here is the image of the preproduction body-shell that belongs to the 2010 Hyundai Sonata.
Codenamed YF, the next generation Hyundai Sonata will feature a completely redesigned body shell and as some automobile mags suggested earlier, will indeed look sportier and more aggressive than the current one.
Judging from this image, the future Sonata sedan will adopt some DNA from Hyundai Genesis Coupe rather than Equus luxury sedan that we have seen unveiled today.
Among the most noticeable exterior design elements will be its strong side character line running from the front doors to the taillights, providing the 2010 Sonata sedan a very unique and distinctive touch in the side view.
Overall appearance seems to be pretty good so far, but we should wait just a little bit more time for better pics to surface to the web. This wont take long as the 2010 Sonata is slated to debut in September 2009 and images of pre-production cars seem to leak quite often lately.

Yep, I think the new Sonata will have over 50% of the rendering on board. The chop was an existing Genesis sedan so you can leave out the grille for sure. But the side profile including the door creases will be there.

Admin, please correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the image that GrahamB is showing the genesis before the final design… The white car that Robert is showing is a modified Sonata…and I mean like “DUB” modified and the YF site is Korean site of an enthusiast who has been posting Hyundai pix for a few months now. I’m not sure if he works for Hyundai or just an informed fan.
It’s funny, my co-worker is this huge Toyota/Lexus fan an I give him competition because I’m a Hyundai/Kia fan. I always throw price tag in his face. I’m one ahead of hime with the N.E. Car of the year award. Touche Hyundai!

EB: The “strange” Hyundai car is in deed the innitial Genesis design that (thanks God) didn’t make it into serial production.
I think the white car Rob showed is an artist rendering and previews a possible Genesis variant. Of cours it’s just a computer generated pic, but the artist seems to have a lot of skills photochoping the cars. It’s a great work though.
About that interior, we do not know for sure what that was all about, but I have heared it was one of the possible designs for the pre-facelifted 2006 Sonata. Build by one of the interior-parts supplier.

Admin, I’m confused – on Dec 3 you ran the story “Hyundai Sonata I40 shows rear end” with an oval covering a pic of the 2010 Sonata. You claimed it was a pic of the next Sonata.
The vehicle on YF love net is the same pic (exactly the same rear and hint of front at the same angle and colour) and yet it’s supposedly an initial Genesis design. Please explain?

No worries, Admin. The initial Genesis design would have been lampooned by the media and ignored by consumers.
The YFLOVE site Sonata might be the real thing if the site owner is an employee in Hyundai R&D or knows someone in that Department. Some have said it looks like the 2009 Mazda 6 and I can also see 2009 Lexus ES 350. It is a “fit” for the oval covered pic on December 3, but if you look closely the licence plate has been added.
